(Dad) Hetzler, passed away in Mansfield, Ohio, on September 1, and because he was so well liked by everyone here that knew him I want to pay him belated tribute. For several years Dad visited each winter his son, H. II. Hetzler, then Chief at the Humble Station, and attended all Eagle football games. Dad was a familiar figure at the games during Hearne High School's golden football era between and 1939, when Bo Cochran's teams were the talk of the country.

His grandson, the late "Buddy" Hetzler, starred in athletics at Hearne High. High on the list of Dad's friends were the men at the Humble Station. Jokingly, they used to tell Dad not to "Tell Boss on them." It was all in fun but Dad never told on anyone. The world would be better with more Dad Iletzlers. Mr.

Gregory is Right LLOYD GREGORY, managing editor and crack columnist of the Houston Post, says the only consolation he gets from writing a sports column these days is that the boys in the service like to read about their favorite sports teams. Mr. Gregory is right, it is hard to gel exercised over an atletic contest when American boys are fighting in a much deadlier game all over the world. However, I too, am convinced that the boys in the service like to read about their home, teams. In more than of the letters from Hearne boys the Eagles have been mentioned.

Dope On the Eagles; Mart Here Tonight The big, powerful Mart Panthers roll into Hearne tonight for a foot- ba.ll game with the Hearne Eagles, Last year the teams battled to a 6-6 deadlock in the rain and mud. Year in and year out the Mart team is a tough grid aggregation and from reports, this year is no exception. David Moon, 175-pound backfield ace, is a brother of Mrs. P. A.

Reed, of this city. On paper the Mart club looks as good, if not better, than the Eagles, but I am not sure they can take the Eagles on their home field. It will be interesting to see if the big Mart line can stop Don Boswell, "Speck" Priestly and Bill Netka, fleet Eagle backs. Every team plays a tie occasionally and it would not be surprising to see the teams deadlock tonight. My guess on tonight's tussle: HEARNE EAGLES, 13; MART PANTHERS, 1.3.

Tickets On in Town Fo6tball fans have complained that tickets are hard to get at the game as the crowds are thick around the gate and ticket booth. Supt. R. M. Hix, of the Hearne schools, has announced a ticket booth will be set up in front of P.

andM. Bank from 2:00 to 6:00 this evening before game time. The game starts at 8:00, SCATTERLINES: The Hearne Eagle Band will be up town this morning and play 'em up good for the Mart game tonight Checking in for a stay, is LIEUT ROBERT MARTIN, of the Air Force, veteran of 163 missions over enemy territory The Eagles have speed to burn this year and tonight will see speed up against beef when they lock heads with Mart DAVID SELF, great halfback on the '40, Ml and '42 Eagles, and now of the Navy, here for a visit JOE MARTIN, of Groesbeck, here Tuesday. Jim was as proud of her as you were and the boys on the wash-rack used to polish the fenders 'til you could see your face in them. Well, the old buggy isn't quite so rakish looking the motor is still sweet- running for Jim has done a good job of keeping her young.

As you drove less, Jim watched the motor and battery more, knowing that idleness could be more harmful sometimes than wear. He preached the gospel of abiding by the ration program, he cross-switched the tires and kept a constant eye on the litfle troubles that could grow to big ones. There is a Jim in every Humble station. The war has taken most of his help and lots of his business away from him. But he carries on because he feels that his most useful job today is to keep vital transportation rolling.

And he looks forward to that happy day when you'll drive up in youi next new model and say, "Well, Jim, what do you think of this one?" 'HUMBLE.
