Cafeteria corners fast-food market School lunch menus for south Phoenix $nd southwest Valley school districts: Murphy Elementary Today: steak fingers, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, banana cream pie. Thursday: no school. 1 Friday: pizza, mixed vegetables, pears. Monday: fish fillet, potatoes au gratin, hot roll, mixed fruit. Tuesday: green chili burro, beans, peaches.

Nov. 17: hamburger, french fries, lettuce, tomato and pickle, banana. Nov. 18: macaroni and cheese, peas and carrots, biscuit, Jell-0 with fruit. Nov.

19: no school. Alhambra Elementary Today: turkey and noodles or grilled cheese sandwich, salad with Thousand Island dressing, hot roll, pumpkin pie with corn dogs, fish sandwiches, pizza, cold sandwiches, french fries, cottage cheese, soft drinks and milk shakes. But the burgers are the most popular, according to Principal Don Enz. Topped with onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, mustard and mayonnaise, the hamburgers are called "Love-burgers" after cafeteria worker Ima Love, who grills them. The burgers sell for 60 cents, 70 cents with cheese.

The north campus has 380 students, all freshmen. Because they are too young to drive cars and because there are no restaurants or fast-food chains nearby, about 90 percent of the students eat at the cafeteria, Enz said. Sales pay for the food and for the salaries of cafeteria workers, he said. LITCHFIELD PARK The big hamburger chains haven't made it out to Indian School Road and Bullard, but hamburgers are a big business there. On the site sits the Agua Fria Union High School's north campus, whose cafeteria serves a few hundred burgers a day.

Previously, the district had participated in the federal lunch program, which required the school to follow guidelines. Since leaving the federal program, the school has turned to a-la-carte items as a way to support the cafeteria and provide a popular meal. The cafeteria is similar to a fast-food restaurant. Students line up at a large window, place their orders and wait for their food, which is served in Styrofoam containers. The menu is varied besides burgers, there are Nov.

18: super submarine sandwich, seasoned lettuce cup, fruit salad. Nov. 19: turkey in dressing with gravy, seasoned green beans, pumpkin tart. Friday: hamburger or burrito, french fries, buttered corn, chilled fruit, shredded lettuce and dill chips (choice of two items). Monday: hamburger or golden fish portion and cornbread, french fries, Delmonico potatoes, three fruit salad, shredded lettuce and dill chips (choice of two items). Tuesday: hamburger or tuna salad sandwich, tater rounds, fruited gelatin, applesauce, shredded lettuce or dill chips (choice of two item). Nov. 17: hamburger or bean tostada and cinnamon twist, french fries, orange smiles, mixed green salad, shredded lettuce and dill chips (choice of two items).

Nov. 18: hamburger or super submarine sandwich, tatir rounds, fruit salad, seasoned lettuce cup, shredded lettuce and dill chips (choice of two items). Nov. 19: hamburger or turkey in dressing with gravy, frencli fries, seasoned green beans, pumpkin tart, shredded lettuce and dill chips (choice of two items). Note: Menus were not available from all south Phoenix and southwest Valley school districts.

Monday: vegetable beef stew, peanut-butter sandwich, fruit, cookie. Tuesday: spaghetti with meat sauce, french bread, cheese sticks, salad, pears.

Nov. 17: chicken nuggets, sweet sour sauce, steamed vegetables, buttered rolls, pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Nov. 18: beef and bean burrito, fried rice, salad, mixed fruit. Nov.

19: poor-boy sandwich, potato st icks, pickle spears, oranges. Litchfield Elementary Today: corn dog, french fries, fruit. Thursday: no school. Friday: pizza, green salad, fruit. Monday: bean burrito, green salad, fruit.

Tuesday: beef taco, shredded cheese and lettuce, hot sauce, tender corn, fruit. Nov. 17: hot dog, french fries, fruit. Nov. 18: hamburger, french fries, dill chip, fruit.

Nov. 19: pizza, green salad, fruit. Cartwright Elementary Today: barbecue beef sandwich, french fries, chilled apricot halves. Thursday: no school. Friday: burrito, buttered corn, chilled fruit.

Monday: golden fish portion, hot buttered cornbread, Delmonico potatoes, three fruit salad. Tuesday: hamburger on bun with dill chips, french fries, fruited gelatin. Licensed veterinarians from the Arizona Veterinary Association and Maricopa County Rabies Animal Control Program will vaccinate and license dogs at clinics between Nov.

20 and Dec. 12. Owners may obtain a rabies vaccination and 1983 license for dogs over 4 months of age at any location. Owners are asked to bring dogs on a leash. License fees are $7 for a sterilized dog and $12 for an unsterilized animal.

An owner must have proof the dog is sterile to qualify for the lower fee. A $3 fee is added for the rabies vaccination. The schedule is 10 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Community Building in Tolleson, 9255 W.

Washing- Next month, the clinics will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5 at Great Western Bank in South Plaza, Central and Southern avenues; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
