Not being In the Americas league these past three years, since my playing days with the Indians. I haven't had a chance to watch many of the newer play ers and so will have to u-ait until spring training I can Judge 0 njour own club, lei alone the others. I do know that is im nnnjproved by the addition of those jtwo pitchers from Chicago (Bill Wight and Ray Scarborough), but the New York Yankees.are still world champions, and as such, are the club to beat.

I understand that the Indians of 1950 were a pretty good club until injuries and a slump caught up uith them In late August, rve seen Al Rosen 'third basiemanl plav In. the American and know he is the that I like. Tve also seen Ray Boone In spring training and he lieve he'll settle dow-n and a real good shortstop this year. ports on Bob Avila tsecond baseman) and Luke Easter (first baseman) are encouraging although I haven't seen them plav. Larry Doby.

of course, is a great ball player and should be even better in 1951. Then we have Dale Mitchell. Allie Clark. Boh Kennedy and a rookie named Harry Simpson for the rest of our outfield. We shouldn't have any worries behind the plate with Jim Hegan.

Birdie Tehbetts. Ray Murray and and couple of promising youngsters to choose from. Our pitching, of course. Is the best In the league. Most of our hurlers were here in 1947 so I know them fairly well, particularly Boh Lemon.

Bob Feller, Early W.vnn and Steve Gromek. Mike Garcia new to me but his record certainly indicates he has It. Then there Is Sam Zoldak. who might make a good relief man, and a kid named Dick Rozek, who in xery fast and might help a lot this summer. As far as the military draft Is concerned, we've already lost four players and don't figure to lose more unless the regulations are changed.

Our main weakness seems to be a lark of strength, par ticuiarly in the Infield. All In all. rd sav the Indians will have a real contender In 1951. The young fellows In the Infield will be more experienced and less prone to make mistakes. Team Scorlnr B.
