In HA ' lady "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't" •ifttfift — - A former Bancroft woman, Mrs. George C. Johnson, 77 of Foley, Minn., died Sunday, Nov. 19 at Princeton. Minn; She was the former Ellen Aldeha Nyman and was born and raised in Ban' croft. She taught school in Lone Rock and Bancroft for 12 years from 1908 until 1920 and was married to George C. Johnson at Bancroft in 1919. The family lived in Ban- Croft until 1949 before moving to Minnesota. . Her husband and six children survive. They include Verda, Mrs. August Brandt of Swea City. Also surviving are four brothers including John Nyman of Swea City and two sisters including Mrs. Randy Peterson of Swea City. The Albert Mitchells, Mrs. William DeVVall and Mrs. Morris Mitchell attended the "Around the Table Christmas Sing" by the Junior and ^Senior Choirs of St. John's Lutheran chiiroh, Depew, Sunday evening. The Albert Mitchells were Thursday supper guests at Clarence Underwood's. Friday afternoon guests at 'Morris Mitchell's for Mrs. Mitchell's birthday were the Albert Mitchells, Harvey Hen- riksens, Ed Mitchells^ Mrs. Ernest Berkland, Mrs. Richard Underwood, Walcott, Ind. and 'Mrs. Serena Pederson. The Kenneth Halversons spent Sunday with relatives 'at Fort Dodge and Humboldt. They also visited Mrs. Cornelia 'McCutcheon, patient at Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge.
