Clay, 22, recorded her first success of the British jump racing season in a selling hurdle at the Midlands track of Southwell on the 20-1 chance Nabeeh. Last week her heart stopped beating when she was trampled on by a horse.

She recovered enly after being given the kiss of life by her father, trainer Bill Clay. She said: "I was clipping a horse called King Hustler in his box when he suddenly went wild, knocked me to the ground and stamped all over me. My heart stopped for nearly three minutes, but thankfully my father was in the box to give me the kiss of life." After a night in hospital Clay was allowed home and although her father was in two minds whether to let her ride, she was determined to partner Nabeeh.
