Walker has a record of 8-3-1 with seven knockouts in fights that can be verified. His last fight was a second-round technical knockout of Charles Carter in June at Portland, Ore. Walker was knocked out in the sixth round by top-ranked light-heavyweight contender Don Lalonde in August 1986. VOLVO INTERNATIONAL Andre Agassi, 17, used his powerful forehand to beat Wimbledon champ Pat Cash, 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (8-6), and advance to the third round of the $315,000 tournament at Stratton, Vt.

Agassi, brother-in-law of former tennis champ Pancho Gonzales, did not hesitate to pound his heavy top-spin forehand and said he felt no pressure playing against Cash. "The worst I could do was lose big deal," shrugged the teen-ager from Las Vegas, Nev. Cash, playing in his first Grand Prix tournament since winning Wimbledon, said of Agassi, "He swings as hard as he possibly can on every shot. He hits million-to-one shots in, regularly." BOXING The WBC has given light-heavyweight champ Thomas Hearns 48 hours to decide whether he will seek the vacant middleweight title against Argentina's Juan Domingo Roldan. A WBC statement said the council has not authorized a i Hearns-Roldan fight "because that is conditioned on Hearns unfreezing the light-heavyweight title." For the record, Davis will be the group's vice president and liaison with the NFL. Driggs will be the financial and long-range planningdevelopment adviser. Speaking of the exhibition game, it now looks like there's a possibility for a sellout, according to Colbrunn. As of Wednesday evening, 47,000 tickets have been sold.

"We're on a pace to put us in at 63,000," Colbrunn said. "Which is pretty remarkable for this time of year." Colbrunn said his group's break-even point now is 55,000, up from 53,000 because of increasing costs. The NFL is using the figure of 65,000 as a sellout because some seats are being blocked out. Normally, Sun Devil Stadium holds 70,021. Phoenix's other two chief competitors for an expansion franchise, Memphis and Jacksonville, also will draw big crowds.

Sources in Memphis have told The Arizona Republic that the Liberty Bowl will sell out its 65,000 seats. Sources in Jacksonville said that between 70,000 and 80,000 tickets will be sold to the Gator Bowl capacity). "Bart wants 65,001 for our game because that would beat Memphis," Colbrunn said. "He doesn't care about Jacksonville." Tickets can be purchased by calling 483-2823. This week, Bart Starr's group added NFL Hall of Famer Willie Davis and Western Savings president Gary Driggs to their organization as major stockholders. It would seem they're bolstering their attack for an expansion franchise.

That's a hefty, 1-2 punch (sports hero and financier) to go along with Starr, John Colbrunn, Tom Stoen and Joe Foss. Davis in particular is great public relations for Starr's group. He is the legendary defensive end and captain of the Packers who teamed up with Starr during the 1960s to bring Green Bay five world championships. He was the ironman of his day, not missing a game in his 10 years with the Pack. He is a former jock with bachelor's and master's degrees specializing in marketing, personnel management and industrial relations.

In addition, Davis is a proven businessman with links to eight major companies. He owns interests in three radio stations. He's also served on the board of trustees at the University of Chicago, served on a commission for President Reagan, directed a committee for the 1984 Olympics, served on an NCAA committee and chaired and directed the Los Angeles Urban League. It's that last accomplishment that could add the most weight to Starr's group. Davis is black.

The NFL has made no secret that it is attempting to put blacks in higher, more visible positions P15580R-13 P15580R 13 P16580R 13 46.99 P20575R 15 54 99 P185 80R 13 47.99 P21575R-15 56 99 P18575R 14 48 99 P22575R 15 57.99 P19575R 14 49 99 P23575R 15 59.99 P165'80R 13 34.99 215'75R 14 41.99 PI85 80R 13 36.99 P205'75R-16 41.99 PI8575R 14 36.99 p21 5'75R 1 5 42 99 P19575R-14 37.99 1 5 44.99 P20575R 14 38.99 P23575R 1 5 45.99 tire dealer, with over 180 stores in ten states.
