Ludington Daily News, Monday, July 24, 1972. Class Of 1947 Holds Reunion The Ludington High School Class of 1947 observed its 25th anniversary reunion Saturday evening, July 15, at the Stearns Motor Inn. Class members and guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson and Mr.

and Mrs. Richard Beimer during the social hour. Class picture was taken by Russ Miller. Each member attending will receive a copy in the mail. James Skoog sang "The Lord's accompanied by Mrs.

C. B. Hughes, preceding the dinner. Gerald Grant, class president, extended the welcome. He introduced the honored guest, Miss Kathryn Stanford, to whom their year book "Oriole" has been dedicated.

Phil Hartman was unable to attend. After dinner, Gerald Grant. master of ceremonies, had class members introduce themselves and guests. Communications were read from members who were unable to attend. A moment of silence was observed for deceased members who are Delores VanConis, Niles Christensen, Tom Copeyon, and Roger Gerard.

Special prizes were awarded to Mrs. Wilbur VanNortwick, youngest child: Mr. and Mrs. Richard Beimer, most grandchildren; Mrs. Paul Balavitch, most children; Robert Carlson, first out-of-town reservation, and Mrs.

Robert Brown first reservation in town; Mrs. George Cruickshank and Leo Lorenz, having traveled the farthest distance, and Donald Newberg received the door prize. Miniature replicas of yearbook "Oriole" featuring class motto, officers, color, flower, program, and class members' names and addresses served as favors. Also bud vases containing class flower, rose, decorated the tables. Next Reunion: 1977 Plans were made to have another reunion in 1977.

Wallace Kuras was named chairman of the event. Music for dancing was provided by Harvey orchestra. A Sunday afternoon picnic was enjoyed by many members of the class at the Ludington State Park. The reunion committee included Mrs. Clyde Abrahamson, Mrs.

Jack Erndleman, Mrs. Wilbur VanNortwick, Mrs. Robert Brown, Mrs. Henry Agens, Harold Sherman, Arthur Shafer, Guy Wrege, and Wallace Kuras. Those attending from out-oftown were Mr.

Hunt Funeral Home in Baldwin with the Rev. William Heydens officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Carr Settlement. Graveside memorial services were by the Custer Gold Bar Post No. 5096, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Horner died Wednesday at Big Rapids Community Hospital. He was A veteran of World War I1, and worked as a selfemployed refrigerator repairman. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Virgil of Big Rapids, William of Grand Rapids, and Phillip of Indiana; one daughter, Mrs. Garry (Sue) Willison of Ludington, and eight grandchildren.

-Hunt 6 Injured Six persons were treated and released at Memorial Hospital this weekend for injuries received in accidents over the weekend. Three persons were injured at 6:25 a.m. Sunday when a car! left US-10-31, one-half mile east of US-31, rolled over and struck a parked car. Injured were the dirver, Roberto Deleon, 20, of 407 S. Harrison and his two passengers, Ruben Contreras of 407 S.

Harrison St. and Jose Gonzales, 18, of route 1 Ludington. All three were treated and released at Memorial Hospital. Deleon was charged with failure to have his vehicle under control. His car was extensively damaged.

The parked car, owned by Community Service Insurance received moderate damage. A three-vehicle collision on North Lakeshore Drive near Lincoln River Bridge al 7:20 p.m. Saturday sent a passenger! in one of the vehicles to Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries he received in the pileup. According to the sheriff's report, one of the three vehicles involved in the accident driven by William Anderson of Mount Pleasant stopped to make a left turn and a pickup driven by Max Sutter of North Lakeshore Drive, Ludington collided with the rear of the Anderson vehicle. The third vehicle driven by Alfred Greene of Scottville-struck the Sutter pickup in the rear.

The injured passenger Thomas Gilland, 39, of route 3, Sherman Road, Ludington was traveling in the Sutter pickup. Sutter was arrested on a charge of driving under the 1 influence of intoxicating liquor, and was lodged in Mason County Jail. Greene was charged with failure to stop in the assured clear distance. Every TenBrock, 20 of 2401 E. Broadway, Muskegon, was injured in a motorcycle spill on a two-track road in Sherman Township at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday. He was treated and released at Memorial Hospital. A six-year-old boy received I minor cuts and bruises at 4:20 Mrs. G. Cutler Mrs.

Grace Cutler, 69, died Sunday in Sarasota, where she had lived since 1946 when she moved there from Scottville. She was born Grace Rigel in Hicksville, Ohio, on Oct. 11, 1902. She taught school in Mason County, and later in Florida. She also owned the former Cutler Floral Shop in Scottville.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lavene (Lois Lee) Parker of Sarasota: one son, Wayne, of Reno, four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William Whitaker, Ludington, and Mrs. Herman Flickinger of Scottville. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m.

Thursday at the Stephens Chapel in Scottville with the Rev. Harold Filbrandt officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in ville. The family will be at the chapel to receive relatives and friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wed-' nesday.

In a parking lot off East Ludington Avenue near Nelson Road at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, a car driven by Emily BoltHouse of Wyoming backed into a car driven by Barbara Stockwell of 304 First St. Minor damage happened to both vehicles. No tickets were issued. A car, whose driver stated he fell asleep, left Jebavy Drive, four-tenths mile north of Rasmussen Road at 12:45 a.m.

Jos. Lancewicz Mrs. Joseph Lancewicz, 51, of 406 N. Ferry died at 3 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Hospital of Mason County where she had been a patient one day.

She was born Clara Wanek on Aug. 9, 1921, in Marinette, where she grew up, attended school, as was married on Nov. 19, 1939. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sisters, Mrs. Marie Miller and Mrs.

Richard (Betty) Ferm, and a brother, Joseph Wanek, all of Marinette, plus nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday afternoon at the Zeitler Funeral Home at Marinette, with burial in Forest Home Cemetery at Marinette. Arrangements are being handled by the Dorrell Funeral Home at Ludington. -Dorrell Roy Camfield Roy Camfield, 81, of route 1 Custer, died at 4 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient the past five days.

He was born Aug. 26, 1890, in Riverside in Berrien County. He moved to Sherman Township as a boy, where he later farmed. He worked at a foundry in Muskegon, and later was a beekeeper. He was a member of the Mason County Association for Retarded Children, the Farmers Union, and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Manistee.

He was married in 1924 to Shirley Kaye who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paula Brown of Grand Haven; two sons, Eugene Camfield of Grand Haven, and Calvin of Royal Oak; 10 grandchildren, one greatgrandchild, and two brothers, Robert of Baldwin and Lennis of Lake City. In keeping with Mr. Camfield's wishes, his body has been donated to the Medical School at Lansing.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Mason County Cancer Socicty. Envelopes are available at the Stephens Chapel in Scottville. A memorial service will be held at Stephens Chapel at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 30. -Stephens from then to now.

25. Pre-registration will involve academic advising and authorization of course selections for both sophomores and freshmen prior to the regular registration period. All full time students intending to attend fall quarter should make appointments to preregister sometime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Aug.

A student enrolling as a parttime student need not request counseling unless he feels it necessary in selecting a pro- Jay Messer Jay John Messer, 83, of Jacksonville, and formerly of 607 E. Ludington died at 4 a.m.

Saturday in Baptist Hospital at Jacksonville where he had been a patient one day. He was born Nov. 30, 1888, in Toledo, Ohio. He grew up and attended school in Oregon Township in Lucas County, Ohio. He worked as a fireman and engineer all his life for the Santa Fe, the Wheeling and Lake Erie, and the Pere Marquette Railroad companies.

He retired in 1946 and moved back to Toledo. In 1955, he moved to Florida. He was married in August of 1913 in Monroe to Minnie C. Bengison, who died in 1949. Mr.

Messer was a life member of the Eagles and of the Masonic Lodge in Ludington. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. Surviving are two sons, Nelson A. Messer of Jacksonville, with whom he made his home; and Howard B. Messer of Ludington; one sister, Mrs.

Loretta Ditman of Toledo; three grandchildren, plus nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dorrell Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. John Figley and the Ludingion Masonic Lodge officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today. The family will be at the funeral home to receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles will hold a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. -Dorrell Astronaut James Irwin has left the space program to head up a religious organization. Reinberg and Leo Doran Leo S. Doran, 50, of Pentwater, died Saturday in the Oceana Hospital at Hart after a long illness. He was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Empire. He moved to Ludington as a young man, and was employed for many years on the car ferries.

He was married Sept. 23, 1967, to Mrs. Laura McGuire in Ludington. The couple moved to Pentwater where they had since resided. He was a member of the Oceana Eagles Lodge.

Surviving, in addition to his widow, are a son, Richard Doran of Muskegon; daughter, Mrs. Susan Determan of North Dakota; four sisters, Mrs. James Murphy of Pentwater; Mrs. Benjamin Mortor of Willoughby, Ohio, and Mrs. John McDonald and Mrs.

James Scanlon, both of Ludington; one Cornelius Doran of Ludington, and two grandchildren. The body is at the TateWeaver Funeral Home in Pentwater where a Rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m, Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Dautremont officiating.
