The Lou Wingerts, Los Angeles, Calif., came Friday to visit relatives in this area. They are houseguests of the Cletus Studers. The Luick family, pioneer residents, of the Belmond area, have left many memories to the town of Belmond, Mrs. Luick is the maternal grandmother of Mr. Watts. County, school, city budgets are approved Three budgets were approved in action taken the pasl few days. The Kossuth Board of Supervisors chopped off $15,000 from the County budget and then approved the budget with. proposed expenditures of $2,780,500. The amount to bo raised by taxation was reduced from $1,297,050 to $1,282,050 when it was found that a proposed allotment for soldier's relief was not needed be- cause of a cash balance. The Algona city council added $6,000 for a new airport hanger and then passed a budget of $1,917,832 for the coming year. The Algona school board approved a budget for the coming year at a meeting Monday night. Expenditures of $1,692,167 for the 1967-68 year were okeyed. Elberl wounded in Viel Nam action Corp. John F. Elbcrt, son of the Arnie Elberts, formerly of Algona, now of Fonda, was seriously wounded in action in Viet Nam July 2. He was flown to the Great Lakes Naval Hospital August 1, and expects to be hospitalized up to six months. He served with the 9th Marines just three days less than 13 months when wounded.
