Allen, editor of the Ottawa Herald, has a wide and enviable fame as a -1-1- miss the best thing of your life if you fail to hear these distinguished orators. Wright in Oklahoma. The fire company intend giving a dance in the Preble building the 19th of this month. A few friends surprised Frank Powers last Sunday evening, it being his 31at birthday. Mrs. Wokal's cousipj who has been her for several weeks, return- ed to her home tn the western part of the state last Tuesday.

i Mrs. Wagner of Kansas City is at the Richland Hotel giving instructions 1 in dressmaking. The Sherman family moved from the farm to town in order to send their children to school. Mr. VanGordon and wife of Clyde are spending a few days with J.

M. Davidson and wife. John Kesl left Saturday night for St. Joe to buy goods. His brother Charley accompanied him.

Bowersox. L. M. Johnson aud family of Scandia spent Sunday in Union. Jessie Stockdick was baptized in the Republican river, Monday.

Meeting continues the remainder of the week. Large crowds are in attendance. Arthur Cooper is cleaning out the cistern at the school house this week. Pearl Bowersox is slowly, recovering from her recent illness. Mrs.

Bachelor and family went to Belleville Saturday evening and remained over Sunday visiting relatives at that place. Politics in this "neck of the woods" is very quiet. The Independent ticket is not taking the hold it was expected it would. The Chicago Lumber Company received two more cars of lumber Monday. This makes nine cars received since the yard has 1 been moved.

Mrs. Fray has opened up a restaurant in the building just south of Bachelor's hardware store and will be ready for customers at all times during the day. Bixler, Gleason received a carload of wagons and buggies last week. They are erecting an implement house in the south part of town and intend to carry a full line of farm imp-, lements.
