The Algona police department investigated two acci- cl'jn'ts over the weekend. The first occurred at 1:00 p.m. Saturday when a car driven by Pearl G. Goodman, 68. Algona, collided with an auto driven by Janis M. Walker. 18, as Mrs. Goodman was backing onto State street. The Walker 1949 Plymouth had $100 damage to the right front fender and bumper, while the Goodman 1950 Chevrolet had $75 damage to the left rear tail light, fender, and trunk. No charges were filed. The other mishap occurred „„. Christine Eckhart was charged with failure to yield the right of way and failure to have a valid driver's license. Car hits deer; one off two auto accidents checked A car driven by a 16-year old Rodman girl. Sandra Elbert. struck and killed a deer when it jumped from the ditch '/2-milc west of Algona on the McGregor blacktop about 5:45 a.m. Friday, she reported to the sheriff's office. The car, a 1957 model, had about $130 total damage. She was traveling east in the machine, owned by .her father, Gerald Elbert, when the deer jumped from the ditch and she was unable to stop in time. Deputy sheriff Don Wood checked a second accident on the Wesley main street about 9:13 p.m. Tuesday when a car driven by Merlin J. Mortimer, 21 of Corwith. struck a 1967 model car owned by the Exchange State bank of Wesley. Mortimer's car had $250 damage and the bank car about $50 damage. Mortimer told Wood that he to.ok his eyes off the road when several youths yelled at him from the street and his car struck the other machine in the left rear. Driver Dave Klein was inside the bank. attended Grinnell College and is a graduate of the Indiana University at Bloomington.
