Merrifield, the Katy nightwatchman, is in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple, Texas in Ward 20A. His condition is extremely serious. Mrs. Carl Schlipf has been ill this week. Lt.

C. Pitts attended the District Assembly of 190th District Rotary International at Bay City Sunday and Monday of this week. The 190th District was divided into two districts 190th and 189th with W. H. Avery of Houston, former president of Downtown Rotary in Houston, elected governor of the 190th in which Katy will remain, and W.

H. Davis elected governor of 189th district. The Katy delegates attended all meetings and enjoyed seeing old friends at the convention. In Bay City they saw two former Katy residents, Mrs. John O'Neal, the former Iris Bailey, and Mrs.

Huebner who was known to friends as Miss Clara Bell Mason, when she taught school here. While the men were in business sessions the ladies attended a coffee Monday morning and luncheon and book review at noon, before returning home Monday afternoon.
