Sketch of the Katy National Bank FORMAL OPENING TO BE ANNOUNCED KATY NATIONAL BANK OPENS FOR BUSINESS, MONDAY, MAY 2 The Katy National Bank will be open for business at nine o'clock on next Monday morning, May 2, and will remain open until 6 p.m. on the first day. Everyone is invited to come for a visit. They will announce open house in about 2 weeks. This is the first National bank to be organized in Katy and it fulfills a long felt need of many residents and business concerns for a convenient, easily acces- able, and well equipped banking house.

Preliminary approval was given for -the organization of the Katy National Bank on October 19, 1954, culminating several months of previous planning. It has been built and equipped with modern features required for speedy, efficient, and complete banking services including personal checking accounts, commercial and industrial accounts, savings accounts, Travelers and cashiers checks, collections and exchange, bank by mail, safety deposit boxes, commercial, auto and installment, personal, and real estate loans, and U. S. Savings Bonds. This national bank will operate as a member of the Federal Reserve System, and Federal F.

B. CORNELIUS President Deposit Insurance Corporation. The capital, surplus and undivided profits are $250,000.00. No one stockholder holds more than of the stock in The Katy National bank. The officers are F.

TU 5 3388 SEALY Modern, Fire-Proof Masonry Building Houses Bank The Katy National Bank is located on the corner of Avenue and Third Street It is built with a modern design with an exterior of Roman brick and tile and a gravel roof. The wood trim is green. The entrance into the spacious lobby is through double glass doors, to the left of which is a plate glass window.

This window overlooks Third Street. The floors of the lobby and hall are finished in terrazzo. The coffee bar, directors meeting room, president's office, bookkeeping room, ladies powder room, mens rest room, utility closet and vault floors are asphalt tile. The ceilings in all but the lobby are- acoustic tile. The lobby has an acoustone ceiling.

Six teller booths face the front as you walk into the bank. The top and sides of these are finished in Formica. A door at the rear of the first teller's booth leads in to the president's "Hometown Newspaper For Brookshire and Katy, Texas" Second Section Thursday, April 28, 1955 office. A door from each of the other booths lead into the bookkeeping room. The I4'xl8' burglar and fireproof vault, located on the east and rear of the building is equipped with 148 safety deposit boxes in three sizes, with room for more to be installed in the very near future.

The interior walls are sheet- rock, finished in soft pastel col- lors. The wainscoting, doors, are beautiful solid walnut. The building is fireproof and completely air-conditioned, designed for both summer and winter comfort. Huntsinger Co. did the masonry work.

R. D. Busch was the general contractor. Katy Specialty Co. did the floor work.

Ray Woods Supply Co. was the plumber, Joe Moore Electric Co. installed the electrical wiring, and Sealy Butane Co. had the air-conditioning contract. Introduction of Banking Officials Rollie Robertson, a Katy National Bank director, is a retired merchant, having operated a general mercantile business, The Robertson Store, in Katy for 45 years, and until about a year ago, when he retired.

He now only supervises his rice farms, and cattle and other business interests. He and Mrs. Robertson live in their nice comfortable home in Katy. Their two daughters Mrs. J.

D. Motheral Jr. (Bessie) and Mrs. Joe Falkenhagen (Rita Mae). Their son, Perry, is also a business man in Katy.
