In the first section, the player has to disable four food dispensers. The "League of Fatties" is on the rampage, and capable of eating all available food to an already starving city.

The main aim Is ar-, rest, rather than butcher the citizens responsible. This Is performed by merely aiming the 'Lawgiver" (the judge's weapon) at the "Perp" (criminal). Firing Is only necessary when attacked. Care should be taken to avoid falling Fatties, who have been defenestrated by the slimmer, angrier citizenry. Level two sees Judge Dredd patrolling Charles Darwin cltiblock.

Apparently, a Professor Fribb has developed an enzyme that counters the evolutionary process. Dredd must fight his way through citizens that are regressing to apes and beyond. Level three is set In the Atlantic Purification Plant, where Sov-Bloc agent Orlok intends to contaminate the Meg's water supply with Blockmania toxin. If defeated here, Orlok will then proceed to level four. The Weather Station, where he will attempt to disperse the toxin Into the city's weather control system, where it will fall as a rain of terror! Level five Is a city In the grip of Block-mania.

Citizens fighting without the slightest provocation, escalating the conflict with every passing minute. Four artillery pieces have been set up by rival factions, and Judge Dredd has to destroy these, and reach a command centra to defuse the situation. In level six, the Dark Judges have arrived. i From an arcane dimension, the judges Death, Fear, Fire and Mortis have come to the con- elusion that only living beings can commit crimes ergo, life itself is a crime! They have already "purified" their own world, and have come to dispense their perverted "justice" on ours. At all times, the Judge must prevent the crime rate from rising too high.

Should this happen, mandatory retirement will be enforced. This means a self-imposed exile in the Cursed Earth region, which lies outside the walls of Mega-City One. The Commodore version of Judge Dredd is graphically acceptable and playable, as opposed to the previous Dredd game. Sound effects are pedestrian, but workable. The documentation is more than adequate for the task, including a map of all game scenarios and goal locations.

A "must" for all 2000 AD and platform game fans alike. I feel that the price tag is just a little steep, and that Is closer to the mark for a single disk, Format reviewed: Commodore 64. Other formats: Atari ST, Amiga, Spectrum, Amstrad CPC464. Graphics: 05 pet cent. Sound: 60 per cent.
