NO EXTRA Special to The Tribune MILFORD George Jefferson, 73, Milford businessman and for many years an influential figure in the Republican Party of Utah, died early Wednesday morning at his home of natural causes. frOR MORE THAN 50 years Mr. Jefferson and members of his family have owned and managed the Jefferson Mercantile Co. in Milford, one of the largest general mercantile businesses in the southern part of the state. He was president of the Milford State Bank, the Southwestern Distributing Cedar City, and the Southern Utah Powder with offices in Milford and Cedar City.

HE ALSO HAD oil and mining interests. Mr. Jefferson served two terms in the Utah "Statf Legislature beginning in 1924 and was elected to the State Senate in 1930 and served one term.
