The network is dropping Body Language, which Channel 10 doesn't air, and plans to move Press Your Tuck from a 'morning to afternoon time slot Taking Press YourlAick's place in the morning will be The New Card Sharks. The problem: KTSP-TV has no mom in the afternoon for Press Your Lin and by keeping it at 9 a.m.

However, Mazursky said a recent Federal Communications Commission decision will enable him to boost KMZK's power and bring the station's wattage closer to the competition. "We may go to 25,000, 50,000 watts. (The FCC decision will) help The Storm end me," he said, referring to album-rock KSTM (FM 107.4 and 99.3), the market's only other facility.

No decision has been made on whether KMZK will change its call letters, Mazursky said. Winkel said he is pleased to be able to give KONC an AM sister station in KLFF. "It will be a nice combo in the market. Doing both formats the right way we can end up with a (combined) 6 or 7 share (of the total audience)," he predicted. Winkel was unsure of whether KLFF will use Al Ham's syndicated Music of Your Life approach (KLFF calls itself K-Life).

"I'm not sure what we're going to do, (but) we plan to keep it in the same mold," he said. The broadcaster also said he is unsure whether KLFF will change call letters under new ownership. "They're good call letters for the format We haven't determined yet what the reputation of the station is in the market," Winkel said. Pending FCC approval of the sale, Affiliated expects to assume control of KLFF sometime in early 1980. We're working on a purchase and sale agreement, which should be in their hands by (today) or Thursday at the latest," said John Winkel, Affiliatcd's executive president, late Tuesday afternixm. "I imagine the closing will be in GO to 90 days, around the first of the year," Mazurskysaid. The exact sale price for KLFF has not been revealed.

Mazursky said it is roughly S3 million; Winkel said Affiliated will pay "a lot The price will be in excess of $2 million." Mazursky already has turned his attention to converting KMZK into a country outlet and to overseeing the installation of a new FM tower that will improve the station's coverage of the market. "I'm working very diligently trying to get the country package together," Mazursky said, adding that the target date for the format change as mid-November. But the format will not change until the station's new tower, which will rise nearly 400 feet, is constructed. The current tower is 97 feet tall. "The steel is here.

It will be going up starting (Unlay)," Mazursky said. In switching to country, KMZK will be going up against market force KNIX-FM (102.5) and KNIX (1580 AM). "We feel we can be a respectable alternative. We're not going head-to-head with (the KNIXs) but I feel we can be an alternative," he said. In recent weeks, Mazursky has been interviewing candidates for air shifts on the revamped KMZK, most notably former OO t)V 8 Watch Liberty utual's "The Status of Liberty" Tonight on Public Television 8 OO I'M.
