The executive producer of her show happened to live very close to the above post office. All the forms were filed in the rubbish bin.

There is little hard evidence of rigging but Logies veterans recall with minor embarrassment the incident in 1988 when Jason Donovan marched up to the stage to collect his gong while the band played the theme from The Flying Doctors. Talk at the time was that Flying Doctors star Peter O'Brien won more votes but the award went to Donovan to go with Kylie Minogue's Gold Logie. There was another uproar in 1986 when Chris Masters was voted reporter of the year by a panel of judges but the award went to Ian Leslie because the ABC had not officially nominated the Four Comers reporter after a Logies boycott In the mid-70s, a Melbourne morning program host polled more votes for the Gold Logie than every other contender com the most popular actor Silver Logie. KAK has been nominated in three categories: the Gold Logie, most popular light entertainment personality and most popular light entertainment program for her show.

Even employees at rival networks believe she will not go home empty-handed. There was a minor upset last year when vote counters who sift through the hundreds of thousands of voting coupons sent in by TV Week readers noted that a couple of hundred had been posted from the same post office in Sydney. nated for a Gold Logie, she has been nominated in the silver category. 000 006 771 ITS Logies night tonight, television's night of nights with the who's who of what's what wearing this and that and talking about whatever. Something always happens at these nights, right out of an episode of Frontline except the participants are operating without a script I remember one such night I was put into a limousine to make a grand entrance with Ernie Dingo. And who was I seated next to? None other than Lindy Chamberlain. I kid you not But I digress. I'm hanging out for the 1997 TV Week Logie Awards because tonight belongs to one woman and one woman only.

They call her Kerri-Anne. And that's my tip. Kerri-Anne Kennerley for gold, with the other suckers left in her glorious wake. There's something particularly special about the renaissance of Kerri-Anne that gives heart to all women. And it's not just women hoping to break into the great big world of the small screen we call television, or other kinds of femmes who'd she did it beautifully, totally winning on every point On top of that, we had a remarkable conversation about her Midday aspirations and the lengths she had gone to press her claims with good solid research and figures.

Well, history shows that Nine stuffed round for a couple of years, as blokey blokes tend to do, before making a commitment to a woman. But they finally came through and gave Kerri-Anne the nod, bless their hearts and minds and ratings show that Kerri-Anne is an astounding success, just as she always believed she could be. Most important, we have shown that we will watch and support one born without the dangly bits of war strutting her stuff on mainstream commercial television, out there on her own, not bound by accepted roles of nurturer, information giver, tut-tut girl or giggly sidekick. Go Kerri-Anne. There is no glass ceiling in sight I have my fingers crossed for you tonight May 1997 go down in history as the year of the Kennerlogie.

just love to slip into the occasional frock inspired by an ice-cream. It's about women everywhere accepting other women as leaders and role models in society. It's about men doing the same. It's about Kerri-Anne being the chutzpah-inspired sex goddess (albeit trim, blonde Queenslander) that she is. And where did it start? Well, where any good cowboy gets to make or break at noon.

Be transported to the land of the lounge room, where in days past women stayed home to tend children, proudly kept house and lovingly ironed clothes. But I digress. And once upon a time, there was The Midday Show, a daytime monolith legendary under the auspices of Mike Walsh and loved by women and immovable with the patronage of Ray Martin, and still loved by women. The daytime crown was up for grabs. It was round about this time Kerri-Anne and I first met Ms McFeast (my highly profiled television psychosis) was hosting Live And Sweaty, and KAK had just come a cropper with Good Morning Australia.

Ever disrespectful and with sheer and total devilry, I invited her to join me for work experience for the Friday late-night show and submit to an Ab Fab makeover to be totally transformed as the lovably trashy Patsy Stone. Not only did Kezza do it all, 0 32 THE SUN-HERALD, May 18, 1997.
