REPUBLIC MAIL Tuesday. November 6, The Arizona Republic Joan Egbert Obituaries Al Capp dies at 70; Aimer' creator LenaE.Castaneda PRESCOTT Rosary for Lena E. Castaneda, 61, who died Nov. 3, 1979, at Yavapai Community Hospital, will be 7 p.m. today at Memory Chapel.

Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholip Church. Mrs. Castaneda, a Prescott native, lived her life here. She was a housewife.

Survivors include her husband, Jose; five sons, Rudy, Freddie, Roy, Johnny and Albert; three daughters, Annie Martinez, Geneieve Flores and Lupe; 31 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two brothers. Associated Press CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Al Capp, creator of "Li'l Abner," the comic strip that survived seven presidents and became an American institution, died Monday night, his lawyer said. Alvin Hochberg said Capp died in Mt. Auburn Hospital here after a lengthy illness.

He was 70. Capp had suffered from emphysema, a condition that played a part in his decision to discontinue his satirical comic strip of the adventures of the hillbilly inhabitants of Dogpatch, U.S.A. The comic strip disappeared from newspapers Nov. 13, 1977, when Capp retired. Going with it were such durable characters as Li'l Abner, the painfully shy and impoverished big-footed hillbilly, and Daisy Mae, his ever-pursuing sweetheart and later his wife.

Apits peak in the 1950s, "Li'l Abner" was known throughout the world for its celebration of Sadie Hawkins Day the day the maidens of Dogpatch relentlessly tracked down the community's bachelors. Born Alfred Gerald Caplin in New Haven, in .1909, Capp was drawn to cartooning by his father, who drew comic strips for his family's amusement. Regina Danknowski Mass for Regina Dan-knoski, 69, who died Nov. 5, 1979, in Bells Lodge Nursing Home, will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in St.

Theresa Cath-olic Church, 5045 E. Thomas. Mrs. Dankoski, 303 E. South Mountain moved to Phoenix 20 years ago from Toledo, Ohio.

She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America Padre Kino Court 1932. Survivors include her husband, Alex, a retired artist with The Arizona Republic display advertising department; and a son, Michael. Arrangements were made at Whitney Murphy Arcadia Chapel. Rachel Owens Services for Rachel Cathrine Owens, 62, who moved to Arizona 29 years ago from Oklahoma and died Nov. 1979, in Good Samaritan Hospital, will be 11 a.m.

Public Health Service Hospital at Sacaton and was treasurer of the Senior Citizens Club. Survivors include her children, Barbara A. Leslie L. Behnke SUN CITY Leslie L. Behnke, 75, who had been self-employed in the oil business at Ber-wyn, 111., and was a charter member of Masonic Lodge 72 after moving here in 1963 from Iowa, died Nov. 5, 1979, in Boswell Hospital. Mr.

Behnke, 11607 N. 103rd had been sound system supervisor of all recreation centers in Sun City. He was a member of the United Church, Sun City Country Club and El Zaribah Shrine. His wife, Helen; and a sister survive. Services will be 10 a.m.
