December 28, 1980 The Arizona Republic MAIL AA19 REPUBLIC Nettie Tenney JOSEPH CITY Nettie Tenney, 83, of Joseph City, who formerly owned a rock and gem business and a restaurant here, died Dec. 21, 1980, in the Winslow Memorial Hospital. She was born in Iowa and came to Arizona in 1916 from California, living in 1 Casa Grande before moving here in 1950. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m.

Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints here. A. Myron Perkins CLAYSPRINGS A. Myron Perkins, 61, of Claysprings, a truck driver for Butler Trucking died Dec. 24, 1980, in an auto accident in Apache Junction.

Mr. Perkins, a native of Taylor, served in the Navy in World War II. He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Idanelle; children, Diane Brewer, Jeanne Nix, Ray, Kim, Stephen and Mike; three brothers and 19 grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m.

Monday at the LDS Church here. Herbert Brooks SUPERIOR Herbert J. Brooks, 66, a heavy equipment operator who had worked for Pinal County, Kennecott Copper Corp. and Magma died Dec. 24, 1980, in his home in Apache Junetion.

Mr. Brooks lived 34 years in Superior before moving to Apache Junction last year. He came to Arizona from Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Margie; children, Evelyn Metcalf, Maxine Augustine, Judy McMullen, Herbert, Roger and Jerry; three brothers; two sisters; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m.

Monday at the First Baptist Church in Superior. Lyle Birdno THATCHER Lyle E. Birdno, 82, of Thatcher, who retired in 1965 as a carpenter for Talley Sons, Safford, died Dec. 24, 1980, in Mt. Graham Community Hospital.

Mr. Birdno, who was born here, also had been a bookkeeper. He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Nessie; children, Floreine Roseberry, Geraldine Carroll, Mellie Tenney, Marie Ray, Arva Shiflet and Hugh; stepchildren, Jay Black and LeAnn Earvan; four sisters; a brother; 39 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services will be 2 p.m.

Tuesday at the Thatcher Third Ward Chapel of the LDS Church. Bill Masten WIKIEUP Bill Masten, 86, of Wikieup, a former cowboy and employee of the Arizona Highway Department, died Dec. 26, 1980, i in the Veterans Hospital, Prescott. Mr. Masten went to work for Babbitt's Cattle Co.

of Flagstaff in 1924. In 1934, he purchased his own ranch in Wikieup and sold it 10 years later, moving to Henderson, where he became a security guard. He returned to Wikieup in 1947 and worked as a cowboy and in construction. He was born in Collins, and served in the Army in World War I. Survivors include sons, William E.

and Ronald; a sister; and eight grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Masten Cemetery in Wikieup. Arizona Ruffner Funeral Home of Prescott made arrangements. Lloyd Rambo HUMBOLDT Lloyd M.

Rambo, 87, of Humboldt, who retired as a barber in Phoenix before moving here, died Dec. 22, 1980, in the Yavapai Community Hospital. Mr. Rambo came to Phoenix in 1954 from East Palestine, Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Faye; a daughter, Lucille Kovach; three sisters; two brothers; four grandchildren and four -great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Humboldt Bible Church. George E. Ewert SUN CITY George E. Ewert of 10922 Saratoga Circle, a former sales engineer for Yale Engineering in Minneapolis, died Dec.

26, 1980, in Boswell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ewert came to Scottsdale from Minneapolis in 1964 and to Sun City in 1971. He was born in Waldorf, Minn. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; a sister and three grandchildren.

Mass will be 9 a.m. Monday at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd. Menke Funeral Home made arrangements.

Roy King APACHE JUNC- TION Roy C. King, 75, of 539 N. 104th Place, a retired construction tractor operator, died Dec. 24, 1980, in the East Valley Health Center. Mr.

King was born in Hamilton, Ohio, and came to Arizona 19 years ago from LaPorte, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Mae; a sister and a halfbrother. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Gibbons-Bunker Desert View Chapel, 9702 E. Apache Trail, Mesa.

Madeleine Withrow Madeleine L. Withrow, 68, a former secretary for Cash Register Sales Service died Dec. 24, 1980, in John C. Lincoln Hospital. Mrs.

Withrow, 4249 E. Sahuaro, was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and came here 22 years ago from San Francisco. Survivors include her husband, C. two sisters and two brothers. Rosary will be 7 p.m.

Monday at A. L. Moore Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams. Mass will be 9 a.m.

Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4715 N. Central. Eva Dugan Services for Eva E. Dugan, 70, of 2215 N.

23rd who died Dec. 26, 1980, in St. Joseph's Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas.

She came to Arizona in 1927 from her native West Virginia. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Rebecca Lodge. Survivors include children, Sue Teel, Lawrence Donald, Ronald and two sisters; 15 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Noreen Miller Mass for Noreen H. Miller, 54, who had been a bank clerk, will be 7 p.m.

today at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N. Third St. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Monday at St.

Francis Cemetery. Mrs. Miller, 649 N. Fifth died Dec. 26, 1980, in Crestview Nursing Home.

She came to Arizona in 1960 from her native Chicago. Survivors include her husband, Ernest; son, Mark Keown; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mulvihill; three sisters and two brothers. Arizona Funeral Home made arrangements.

Corrine Perry Corrine E. Perry, 51, of 1116 E. Durango, a Globe native who lived in Phoenix since 1944, died Dec. 25, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Billy; daughter, Barbara Altamirano; mother, Guadalupe Ferguson; three brothers; four sisters and two grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at A. L. Moore Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams.

David Arthurs CHANDLER David F. "Bud" Arthurs, 58, a machinist five years for Palo Verde Machine Products, died Dec. 25, 1980, in St. Luke's Hospital. Mr.

Arthurs, 200 E. Knox Road, came to Arizona 25 years ago from his native Ohio. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons, Gary, David, Dennis and Bruce; a sister; two brothers and four grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m.

Monday at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Tempe. Della Sell GLENDALE Della Sell, 85, who was a cook 30 years for the Glendale Elementary School after coming here in 1912 from Texas, died Dec. 25, 1980, in Beverly Manor Nursing Home. Mrs.

Sell, 6324 W. Tuckey Lane, is survived by children, Dorothy Wilkerson, Leona Lynch and Herman; two sisters; a brother; four grandchildren and six great -grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Glendale Church of the Brethren, 7238 N. 61st Ave.

Chapel of the Chimes made arrangements. Frank Hobbs PEORIA Frank L. Hobbs, 75, who was a farmer and a deacon of the First Southern Baptist Church of Peoria, died Dec. 27, 1980, in Boswell Memorial Hospital. Mr.

Hobbs, 11001 N. 81st was born in Arkansas and came to Arizona 45 years ago from Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Charlene; children, Patricia Ewers, Barbara Pelham, Charles, Gale and Don; four sisters; 18 grandchildren and i2 greatgrandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Southern Baptist Church, Peoria.

Chapel of the Chimes made arrangements. Saul Goldsholl SCOTTSDALE Saul Goldsholl, 67, of 5900 E. Thomas, who had been a landscape designer, died Dec. 26, 1980, in Maricopa County General Hospital from injuries suffered an auto accident in Phoenix. Mr.

Goldsholl came to the Valley six years ago from his native New York. He is survived by his wife, Naomi; children, Sheila Lederer and Joel; a sister; a brother and four grandchildren. Services will be in New York, Sinai Mortuary announced. Cosimo Licosati Mass for Cosimo Licosati, 79, of 4619 N. Dromedary, who died Dec.

25, 1980, in his home, will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Theresa's Church, 5045 E. Thomas. A Harris Emmons Harris U.

Emmons, 72, a retired construction cement mason and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church, died Dec. 24, 1980, in his home, 2345 N. 28th Place. He was born in Nelson, and came to Arizona 51 years ago from California. Survivors, include children, LaVon Sundquist and Howard; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Grimshaw Bloom Chapel, 3800 S. Central. Mildred Huelskamp MESA Mildred Huelskamp, 59, who was a grill cook 10 years at Mesa Community College and before that owned the McDowell Coffee Shop, died Dec. 25, 1980, in Desert Samaritan Hospital.

Mrs. Huelskamp, 328 Garnet served in the Army Air Corps in Bakersfield, in World War II. Survivors include her husband, Cletus; children, Darlene McWilliams and Danny; mother, Edith Siler; four sisters and five grandchildren. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at Larry J.

Melcher Mortuary, 43 S. Stapley. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Vergie Clinton MESA Vergie 0.

Clinton, 78, who was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the First Baptist Church of Mesa, died Dec. 26, 1980, in St. Luke's Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Earl; children, Reba Porter and E. Ray; three sisters; six grandchildren and five great -grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, 245 N. MacDonald. Gibbons-Bunker Garden Chapel made arrangements. Walter Reiss SUN CITY Walter Reiss, 78, of 9903 Newport Drive, a retired Realtor, died Dec.

26, 1980, in Boswell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Reiss came to the Valley 37 years ago from New York. He was a member of Temple Beth Shalom in Sun City and Beth El Congregation in Phoenix. Survivors include his wife, Kate, and two sisters.

Services will be noon Monday at the Sunland Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd. Sinai Mortuary made arrangements. Maudie Stewart Services for Maudie O. Stewart, 85, of 1939 E.

Moreland, who died Dec. 26, 1980, in Capri Nursing Home, will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 N. 27th Ave. She was born in Golden, and came to Arizona 55 years ago.

She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include children, Audrey Evans, Claudine Field, lone Hartense, Betty Fromm, Mary Mautz and Doyle; 10 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. Robert Leppink Robert J. Leppink, 53, who was a civil engineer for Armour Fresh Meat died Dec. 24, 1980, in St.

Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Leppink, 3519 E. DePoe Lane, served in the Navy in World War II. He WAS born in Buffalo, and came here in 1972 from St.

Joseph, Mo. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; children, Teresa Gutwein and John; four sisters; three brothers and two grandchildren. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today. at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E.

Howard Rose MESA Howard B. Rose, 80, a former postal service supervisor and a retired Navy lieutenant commander, died Dec. 24, 1980, in Las Flores Nursing Home. Mr. Rose, 7226 E.

Juanita, came to Arizona in 1960 from Denver. He was born in Waukegan, and was a member of the Mesa Elks Lodge. He served in both World Wars. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy. Services will be 2 p.m.

23, 1980, in the Flagstaff Hospital. Mr. Griffith was born in Long Beach, and came to Arizona in 1914. He lived in Winslow since 1956. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; sons, Arthur and Richard, and four grandchildren.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at Winslow Funeral Home, with services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Elaine Pankey PRESCOTT Elaine P. Pankey, 72, a former civilian security officer for the Navy and in 1927 a Miss America Pageant contestant from the District of Columbia, died Dec.

25, 1980, in Yavapai Community Hospital. Mrs. Pankey, of Prescott, was born in Gassaway, W. and attended the Fairmont General School of Nursing, Fairmont, W.Va. She came to Arizona eight years ago.

She was a member of the Ladies Elks in Prescott and Daughters of the Nile. Survivors include her husband, John; two brothers and a sister. Arizona Ruffner Funeral Home of Prescott arranged private services. Thomas W. Orr SPRINGERVILLE Thomas W.

Orr, 56, of Springerville, an optician, died Dec. 26, 1980, at White Mountain Community Hospital here. Mr. Orr was born in Winston, and came to this area five years ago. He was a member of the Rotary and was the treasurer of the White Mountain Chamber of Commerce.

He served in the Army in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mary; daughters, Susan Evans, Patricia Oldsen and Jennie Phelps; three brothers; two sisters and seven grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Presbyterian Church in Springerville. Lee Mortuary made arrangements.

Justin Bratton PAYSON Justin "Jack" Bratton, 65, a retired blade operator for Tanner Construction, died Dec. 27, 1980, in the Lewis R. Pyle Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bratton moved to Phoenix in 1951 from Texas and to Payson a year later.

He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 428. He was an Oklahoma native and was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Helen Ward; two sisters and two grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Payson Funeral Home.

Barbara Waldrip Barbara Waldrip, 51, of 2411 E. Nisbet, who had been a postal clerk in Payson, died Dec. 24, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Waldrip was born in Arizona and reared on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.

She was a member of the Paradise Valley Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include children, Denise Brown, Kelley and Wade; mother, Edgeva Kelley; two brothers and a sister. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the LDS Church in Young. Shadow Mountain Mortuary of Phoenix made arrangements.

1-Funeral Announcements Frederick Ratford Frederick T. "Uncle Fred" Ratford, 80, who organized the Boys' Clubs of Phoenix Choir and was its director for 17 years, died Dec. 23, 1980, in Good Samaritan Hospital. Services were Friday at A. L.

Moore Sons Mortuary. Mr. Ratford, 6343 N. 31st created the choir in 1962 after coming here from Detroit. He retired in 1979.

In Detroit, he had a radio and television show that featured the Detroit YMCA Choir and a Boys' Club Choir. He directed both choirs. He was a sound effects man and an actor in the early days of radio and was on the original cast of the Long Ranger show. Mr. Ratford, born in Newfoundland, was a choirboy in the Salisbury Cathedral in England and sang in the Missa Solemnis under Leopold Stokowski.

In 1962, Mr. Ratford received the national man of the year award from the Boys' Clubs of America. He is survived by a son, Ken; daughter, Mildred Mayer; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Henry Winham Sr. M.

L. Winham Henry Winham Jr. Services for Henry C. Winham 75, his wife, Marguerite 68, and their son, Henry C. Winham 50, will be 2 p.m.

Monday at Southern Baptist Temple, 6520 S. Central. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Arizona Funeral Home, 376 N. Third Ave.

The family, who came to Arizona 38 years ago, were fatally injured Dec. 25, 1980, in a two-vehicle accident at 1300 E. Baseline. Mr. Winham 1112 W.

Corona and his son, Henry of Page, died at the scene. Mrs. Winham died at Maricopa County General Hospital the same day. Mr. Winham Sr.

had been a bookkeeper for construction companies. He was born' in Texarcana, Ark. Mrs. Winham, born in Alabama, retired in 1964 as a poster for Title Insurance Trust. Mr.

Winham Jr. was a purchasing agent 25 years for the Salt River Project in Parker. He was born in Louisiana. Mr. and Mrs.

Winham Sr. are survived by daughters, Betty Jo Buote and Nancy Rose; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, and Mrs. Winham by her mother, Claire Moore, and a brother. Mr.

Winham Jr. is survived by children, Laurie, Mark, Susan and Jannie, and two sisters. Ruth Cooper Services for Ruth E. Cooper, 85, a former department store sales employee, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E.

Thomas. Mrs. Cooper, 531 W. Thomas, died Dec. 24, 1980, in a local hospital.

She came to Arizona 22 years ago from Chicago, where she was born. Survivors include a son, Hugh Foote; three sisters and a brother. ECKEL, Theodore. Services Tuesday af 9:00 a.m, at St. Clements of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N.
