Distrct celebrates classified employees The Tustin school district will celebrate Classified School Employees Week May 19 through 25. Schools will hold activities and events honoring support service employees for their contributions to students, teachers and administrators. Classified school employees include secretaries, clerks, instructional aides, print shop operators, custodians, grounds-keepers, maintenance workers, tradesmen, warehouse and food service employees, bus drivers and others. They provide valuable services to. schools and students and contribute to a positive instructional environment according to district officials.

Teachers of the Year honored at breakfast The Irvine Company, Tustin Public Schools Foundation and Tustin Chamber of Commerce are hosting the 1996 Teacher Excellence Awards Breakfast on Monday at Temple Beth Sholom. This year's theme is "Breakfast of Champions." The annual event will honor the Tustin Teacher of the Year and other school nominees whose contributions to education have proven to be outstanding. Each teacher also will receive a cash award in the amount of $500 from The Irvine Company for school or classroom purposes. David Peay, choral music director at Hewes Middle School and Foothill High School, is the 1996-97 TUSD Teacher of the Year and will represent Tustin in the 1997 Orange County Teacher of the Year program. Other Teacher of the Year nominees are: Leta Armstrong, Arroyo; Rebecca Cameron, Benson; Gary Frost, Beswick; Wendy Jawor, Estock; Kristin Brown Heideman; Carol Kirkbride, Loma Vista; Lisa Graham, Nelson; and Debbie Fisher, Thor-man.
