Goetz 52 the Arizona Republic Phoenix, Jan. 27, 1972 iituaries ISunCity designer Thomas Kemp dies Johnny Joe Mimms Wayne Orrin Welch AJO i- Services for Johnny Joe Mims, 12, and Wayne Orrin Welch, 14, both of whom died Tuesday of gunshot wounds, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Ajo Cemetery. The boys were playing with a 410 gauge shotgun when the Welch boy accidentally shot young Mims, his cousin, and then apparently took his own life in remorse. Mims was a native of Ajo and attended the seventh grade at Curley School. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 618.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Mims, a sister, Cynthia, and amaternai grandmother, Mrs. Dollie L. Cox, all of Ajo, and a paternal grandfather, G.

C. Mims, out of state. Welch, also an Ajo native, was an eighth grade student in Curley School. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 637.

He Is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Welch, and a brother, Gary, all of Ajo; a sister, Mrs. Donna Besenhofer of Mesa, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Dollie L.

Cox. The boys will lie in state today in Musgrave Mortuary. Eugene I. Woods SCOTTSDALE Eugene Imperial Woods, 67, who had been a maintenance employe 11 years for Newton's Restaurants, died Tuesday in his home, 7220 E. Portland.

Mr. Woods was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an Elks lodge. Born in Spanish Fork, Utah, he moved here 11 years ago from Ogden, Utah. Survivors include his wife, Lucille, and a daughter, Lori-ta Woods, of Scottsdale; a son, Arthur in California; four stepchildren, Ronald Winquist of Mesa, Craig and Lellanie Winquist, both of Scottsdale, and Jay Aposian of Phoenix; two sisters in Utah; four grandchildren, and 17 step grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m.

tomorrow in Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden. Burial will be in Ogden. SUN CITY Thomas Lewis Kemp, 57, chief architect for Del E. Webb Development oXhere, died yesterday in bis home, 10431 Mission Lane.

Mr. Kemp had been in business 20 years with Steffen Kemp Architects, before moving to Sun City three and a half years ago. He had designed 300 churches in 6 1 Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan. His first job with the Webb firih was coordinating the design for Sun City's Lakeview Center. He was responsible for the design of Sun City Stadium, Lakeview Lanes bowling, facility, La Ronde Shopping: Center, Lakes Club, Palrnbrook Country Club, Sun Tower Restaurant, Lakeview Medical Arts facility, miniature golf courses, administra- Marion S.

Casner Mrs. Edith N. Goetz, 84, who moved here 19 years ago from Kansas City, died Tuesday in Doctors Hospital. "Mrs. Goetz, 2934 N.

Evergreen, was born in Paris, and was a member of the Christian Church in Missouri. Survivors include her husband, Harry B. Services will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas.

Cremation will follow. Francisco Nogales AJO Mass for Francisco C. Nogales, 68, a retired employee of the Phelps Dodge Carp', who died Monday in Good Samaritan Hospital, in Phoenix will be at 9 a.m. today in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in the Ajo Cemetery.

Mr. Nogales who was born Mexico, came to Arizona 2 years ago. is survived by his wife, Delfina; four sons, Alfredo and Jose, both of Ajo, Frank of Saugua, and Horatio of Tucson; three daughters, Mrs, Victoria Tucker of Ajo, and Mrs. Virginia Romero and Carmen Nogales, both of Phoenix; and one sister out of state. Survivors include his wife, Eileen and his mother -in law, Mrs. Louis Althaus, both of Sun City, and two brothers, Robert of Milwaukee and John of Florida.

Services will be announced by Lundberg Mortuaries of Sun City. Murvin B. Anderson Murvin B. Anderson, 71, a horse trainer who moved to Phoenix 38 years ago from Union, died Tuesday in Lincoln Hospital. Mr.

Anderson, 1660 W. Bell, was a member of the Horseman's Benevolent Protective Association. He was born in Little Rock, Ark. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, and four brothers and a sister out of state. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.

Marie R. Grigg Services for and burial of Mrs. Marie R. Grigg, 87, who died Tuesday in Village Green Nursing Home, will be in the National Cemetery at Arlington, Va. Hansen Mortuary made arrangements.

Mrs. Grigg, a native of Baltimore, moved to Phoenix eight years ago from Albany, N.Y., and lived the past four years in the nursing home. She was the widow of Dr. Walter Kingsley Grigg, a World War I officer who is buried in the National Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Dr.

Walter Grigg of Phoenix and Donald of Camillus, N.Y., and four grandchildren. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Delia King Williams Mrs. Delia M. King Williams, 81, who was born in Missouri and moved here in 1940 from Purcell, died yesterday in a Phoenix hospital.

Survivors of Mrs. Williams, 1910 N. 26th Place, include a son, Ralph King of Tucson; three daughters, Mrs Frances Kendall and Mrs. Charline Ulmer, both of Phoenix, and Mrs. Bethel Griese of Independence, eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grand child.

Services will be at 10 a.m Saturday in Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden, Scottsdale. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery. James S. Sherlock James S.

Sherlock, 63, who had been a carpenter 46 years until retiring this month, died Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Sherlock, 2130 W. Van Buren, was a World War II veteran.

Born in Ecorse, he came to Phoenix in 1959 from Detroit. Survivors include his wife, Lydia; a son, James of Dearborn, Michigan, a sister out of state, and four grandchildren. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow in A.L. Moore Sons Mortuary, 333 W.

Adams. Burial will be in Green wood Cemetery. Charles P. Mincks Charles P. Mincks, 67, who came to Phoenix 43 years ago from his native Piedmont, and had worked 35 years for Arizona Public Service died yesterday in St.

Joseph's Hospital. Survivors of Mr. Mincks, 1428 E. Desert Park, include his wife, Elizabeth; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Rosell of Benson; a son, Lt.

Cmdr. Charles S. Mincks of Camp Springs, Md.j a sister, Mrs. Ruth Witt, and a brother, Gus, both of Phoenix, and seven grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m.

J. 'Bill' Wann Services for G. J. "Bill" Wann, 54, a golf caddy, who was born in Tempe, will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in A.L.

31st died Tuesday in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Garna Joiner of Phoenix and two brothers, Glenn of Phoenix and Bob of Flagstaff. Carmen A. Yvanes Rosary for Mrs.

Carmen A. Yvanes, 68, will be at 8 p.m. today in Memory Lawn Mortuary chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave. Mass will be at 9 a.m.

Mrs. Yvanes, 834 N. Ninth died Saturday en route to St. Luke's Hospital. Born in San Antonio, N.M., she moved to Arizona in 1938 and to Phoenix from Ray.

Survivors include her husband, Florencio and a son, Armando Hernandez of SAN CARLOS Services for Willie Bellknap, 22, a former resident of San Carlos who died Sunday in Oakland, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the San Carlos Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Burial will be in the San Carlos Cemetery. Mr. Bellknap, a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, had lived in Oakland, for the past nine months.

He was born in San Carlos. Surviving are 14 sisters, Mrs. Joan Jones, Mrs. Donna Pierre, Mrs. Delia Mull, Mrs.

Vera Bellknap and Karen Bellknap, all of San Carlos, Mrs. Bette Teshlekai of Mesa, Mrs. Marjorie Miles and Mrs. Mary Jane Fullmer, both of Phoenix, Mrs. Jeneva Parker of Whiteriver, Mrs.

Joenell Bendle of Superior and four others out of state; six brothers, Dennis Pierre Frank, Randel and Frederic Bellknap, all of San Carlos, and two out of state; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Harney of San Carlos. Chester Hiner BLACK CANYON Services for Chester I. Hiner, 83, who died Tuesday in his home here, will be at 2 p.m.

Hiner was a retired farmer who moved here 11 years ago from Coldwater, Kan. He was born in Longton, Kan. Survivors include his wife, Ella Merl; two sons, LeRoy of Phoenix and Richard of Norco, two daughters, Mrs. Alberta Thomas of Houston and Mrs. Marion Herd of Holbrook; 10 grandchildren, and eight greatgrandchildren.

The family suggests contri butions to the Black Canyon City Medical Center. Mary Wren Rosary for Mrs. Mary Wren, 81, who died Tuesday in her home at 4123 N. Fifth will be at 6 p.m. today in Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 W.

Bethany Home. Mass will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Church of St. Francis, 4715 N. Central.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Mrs. Wren was born in Plattsburg, and came here in 1948. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs.

Thomas F. Waugh, Mrs. L. A. Malenfant, Patricia Wren and Rosemary Wren, all of Phoenix, and Mrs.

C. H. Hawn and Mrs. Sarah Engish out of state; two brothers out of state; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The family suggests contributions the the St.

Jack Hart, "three quarters Cherokee, one quarter barbed wire," started his second century yesterday, attributing his first to good whisky and good women. "I was born in the stirrup and I'm going to die with my boots on," said the "world's oldest living cowboy." Fellow residents held a 100th birthday party for him Tuesday, and presented him with a plaque reading: 'To the oldest living cowboy in the world born Jan.

25, 1872. Three quarters Cherokee, one quarter barbed wire, 80 years a rodeo rider, 90 years a cowboy and 100 years of hell-raising." Hart was born on a prairie in the Oklahoma Territory and says he roped, rode, punched cattle and broke horses all over the West and South America. He claims to have met Billy the Kid, Sheriff Pat Garrett, Pancho Villa, Gen. John Pershing and Teddy Roosevelt. He was grand marshal at the 1971 Grand National livestock Exposition and Horse Show at the San Francisco Cow Palace.

SHAH IN SWITZERLAND LONDON (UPI) The Shah of Iran flew to Switzerland yesterday to join the Empress Farah and their children on a skiing holiday in St Mortiz. Marion S. Casner, 68, who was born in Tempe, died yesterday en route to a Phoenix hospital. Mr. Casner, 2541 N.

Place, lived in Phoenix the past 25 years. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Winona Jones of Phoenix, and a brother, Howard Wesson of Tempe. Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E.

Thomas. Burial will be in Double Butte Cemetery, Tempe. William J. Girard Graveside services for William J. Girard, 58, who died Tuesday in a Phoenix hospital, will be at 1 p.m.

tomorrow in the Winslow Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today in Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School, Scottsdale. Mr.

Girard, 16802 N. Tatum was born in Winslow and moved to Phoenix 25 years ago. He had been a fireman and engineer five years for the Santa Fe Railroad. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Mary Girard of Los Angeles.

John C. Strickling Services for John C. Strickling, 82. will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1401 E.

Madison. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 10 p.m. today in Webber Sons Mortuary, 1641 E. Jefferson.

Mr. Strickling, 2418 E. Corona, died Sunday in St Joseph's Hospital. He had been chairman of the board of deacons at the church many years. Born in Columbia, he came to Phoenix 25 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Maude; five daughters, Mrs. Marzellar Allen of Phoenix, Verneda Strickling, and Mrs. Par then a Hester, both of Berkeley, Mrs. Kay Wallace of Altadena, and Mrs. Doratha Richard of Oakland, four sons, Johnie and Robert of Phoenix, Willie of San Francisco and James of Los Angeles; 37 grandchildren, and 22 greatgrandchildren.

Ralph Lee Akin COOLIDGE Services for and burial of Ralph Lee Akin, 31, a former Coolidge resident who was killed Monday night in an automobile accident in Melba, Idaho, will be Satur day in Nampa, Idaho. Mr. Akin was born in Rochester, 111., and spent most of his life in Coolidge. Before moving to Melba, he was employed at the Arizona Training Center in Randolph. He is survived by his wife, Ida; two daughters, Shelley and Michelle, all of Melba; his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Embert Aiken of Coolidge; two sisters, Mrs. June Ufford of Coolidge; and Mrs. Marcel-la Gimpher out of state; four brothers, George of Buckeye, Gail of Chandler, Carl Lee of Tempe, and Norman out of William T. Erdman PRESCOTT Services William T.

Erdman, 81, are-tired well driller who died Monday in Yavapai County Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Ruffner Funeral Home. Private burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Mr- Erdman was born in Pennsylvania and came to Arizona in 1932, working for the federal government throughout the Southwest. He moved from Parker to Pres-cott upon his retirement in 1954.

He was a charter member of the Parker Elks Lodge and a member of the Black Mountain Moose Lodge in Parker. Survivors include three nieces and two nephews. Joseph F. Conlon TEMPE Services for Joseph Francis Conlon, 36, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Gibbons Tempe Mortuary, 405 E.

Southern. Burial will be in Double Butte Cemetery. Mr- Conlon, 3022 S. Albert, was found dead Tuesday at 6420 S. 22nd St.

in Phoenix. He had been a service station attendant recently at Mill and Southern. Before that he had been a foreman in a graphics shop. Born in Providence, R.I., he moved to Phoenix 18 months ago. Survivors include his wife, Beverly, and three daughters, Eva, JoAnn and Helen Conlon, all of Tempe; his parents, three brothers and a sister out of state.

Services for Orval H. Snarr, 72, who died Tuesday in Phoenix Baptist Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Memory Lawn Mortuary chapel, 719 N. 27th Ave. Entombment will be in Memory Lawn Mausoleum.

Mr. Snarr, 1614 W. Willet-ta, had been employed 35 years in the service department at Rudolph Chevrolet as a mechanic. He was born in Indiana and moved here 42 years ago. Survivors Include his wife, Pearl; two daughters, Mrs.

Opal Knight of Oracle and Mrs. Marjorie Lesnett of Phoenix; a brother and three sisters out of state, and three grandchildren. Stanley Oscarson Stanley Alan Oscarson, 32, Goodyear, a musician who played with The Rogues at Mr. Lucky's Club, died Tuesday in a Phoenix hospital af-, ter a long illness. Mr.

Oscarson, was graduated from South Mountain High School. Born in Valley City, N.D., he came to the Valley 15 years ago from Grand Forks, N.D. Survivors Include his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. M.

Mr. Thomas, 3420 E. McDowell, moved here eight years ago from his native Kansas. Survivors Include his wife, Irene; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Myers of Torjeka, and Mrs.

Gwendolyn Tolbert of Newton, three sisters out of state, and 12 grandchildren. Services and burial will be In Clay Center. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today In Mortensen-Kines Funeral Center, 1020 W. Washington.

William G. Delaney Mass for William George Delaney, 45. will be at 9 a.m. today in Most Holy Trinity Church, 8620 NV Seventh St. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with honors by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Monfort Post 9400, Sunnyslde Mortuary announced.

Mr. Delaney, who died Jan. 20 in his home at 13847 N. Eighth Place, was employed by the Refrigeration Co. and was formerly with the Charles Roberts Refrigeration Co.

He was a World War II Navy veteran. Born in Sham-okin, he came here five years ago from West Palm Beach, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Eunice; three sons, Patrick, Richard and Gerald; two daughters, Karen and Cheryl Delaney, all of Portland, and four sisters out of state. Joseph Antone SACATON Mass for Joseph Antone, 67, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Church of St.

Anns at Lower San Tan. Burial will be in Lower San Tan Cemetery, Sunnyside Mortuary of Phoenix announced. Mr. Antone was found dead Tuesday at the intersection of Ariz-93 and 87, near Bap-chule. Born in St.

Johns, he had retired from the Crystal Ice Co. at Glendale. Survivors include his wife, Alvina; five sons, Gregory of Bapchule, Vincent of. Clarence, both of Upper San Tan, Mike of Phoenix and Sylvester with the Army at Ft. Ord, and 14 grandchildren.

Danette L. Tune Services for and burial of Danette Leigh Tune, 7, a second-grade student at Sunny-slope Elementary School, will be in Augusta, Kan. Friends may call from 4 to 9 today in Sunnside Mortuary, 614 E. Townley. Danette was killed in an auto pedestrian accident Tuesday at Second Street and Eva.

Brown, was born in Burnet County, and came to Arizona in 1919 from Hope, N.M., where she and her late husband owned a ranch. She became an oil painter at age 69. Survivors include two sons, James and Harvey and a daughter, Mrs. Winona Taylor, all of Mesa; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m.

Walker SIERRA VISTA Services for Karl L. Walker, 19, who was killed Friday night in a car accident on Arizona 85 near here, will be at 11 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery. Walker, a 1971 graduate of Tombstone High School, lived with his sister at Ft.

Vezie, 2929 E. Main, died Tuesday in a Phoenix nursing home. Born in Washington, she came to Arizona 26 years ago and lived in Mesa the past nine years. She had been with Sears 38 years and was an assistant manager 20 years in Washington. She was a past secretary-treasurer of Palm Gardens Recreation Club and an Elks Auxiliary member.
