The church sold some $500,000 la bonds to finance its operation. Two weeks ago, the station suspended regular programming and began a fund -raising telethon to secure pledges to meet the station's operating expenses. Last night, church officials reported receiving $14,000 in pledges, 65 per cent of its goal Of $21,500. Brassfield was unavailable by telephone yesterday and didn't return messages left with the station's receptionist. Brassfield joined the church staff two months ago after the resignation of John Watson, former assistant to Edmonds.

Brassfield has no previous television experience. Church and station officials continued their silence on future program plans. But other personnel at the station said the church has decided to drop Action Auction, Roller Derby, and wrestling. Sport-scene, hosted by Lin Edmonds, the pastor's son, was first canceled and then reinstated. Action Auction was one of the few moneymakers in the station's schedule, sometimes yielding more than $1,000 per show.
