Mrs James W. Nelll and daughter. Miss Violet Nelll, were the special guests of honor, and over one hundred guests were invited to meet them. The honor-guests were leaders in Sait Lake society before coming to Butte and are particularly charming people. Miss Nelll is a rareiy gifted young- woman and writes largely for Eastern magazines.

Six rooms were thrown open to the guests and the hours were from 3 to 7 o'clock. The reception-room show 2d green coloring, with yellow autumn blossoms arranged with beautiful effect. In this room the guests were welcomed. The two rooms adjoining where the guests were entertained were transformed in'to oriental bowers, showing vari-colorings, all tastefully blencied into one harmonious ensenVble. The front room was adorned hy a frieze of Japanese fans, arranged on oriental draperies, while here and there was placed a large Japanese umbrella.

Countless tiny Japanese lanterns were strung from the chandelier to each corner oi the room, while pendant from the same were four lanterns, concealing glowing incandeseen'ts. Immeedia.tely under the chandelier was a large taible, which hclid seven cut-glass candlesticks, containing lighted candles, and attached to these were garlands of t'iny Japanese from the chandelier to each can-die. Upon this table were dishes of red candies and red wafers. In rhe next room, where refreshments were served, the Japanese decorations also dominated, and most charmingly were they carried out. A frieze of gauze fans in Japanese design was about Che room, and falling from the doors and windows were rich oriental silk draperies, the tables being covered with the same.

The immense chandelier displayed a huge snake wound about the rod and partly concealing itself within the Japanees shades. A myriad of shaded incandescents shed-the softest possible light over all, and the. effect was unusually beautifui. Through the rooms the lights were shaded and Interwound with vines and hung with Japanese lanterns. The mural decorations were specially artistic, an-d seldom is noticed such h-armonious blending and careful placing, in order to bring out the beautiful color effects, as seen at the reception given yesterday.

Refreshments of the choicest order were served, the following young ladies presiding over them: Miss Lloyd, Miss Doty, Miss Ava Short, ansa Louise Graham's country' dance at the Cheatham cabin. -4-Mrs. Caldwell's and the Mtsses Norton's cotillon for Miss Marvin. -4- December SI Tavern Club dinner-dance. -v-T TV A ri.
