B. F. Hendricks and children visited Sunday Miss Ellen Joiner, who is a ijnember of the nursing staff at San- itorium. Mrs. Raymond Brown and children left last week for Hillsboro to visit in the home of her brother, Arthur Bucher.

They are now visiting in the home if another brother who lives in Dallas. Mr. and Mrs. M. N.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rayma Leo and Gaylc Dean joined thJm, and the entire Kattes family, lad another happy week-end together. Misses Joyce Mae and Doris Lou Hendricks are spending several days with Mrs. O'Neal of Nix.

James Baker of Ft. Sam Houston is here on a month's vacation. Green Smith of Arizona arrived Friday night for a visit with his sister, Mrs. Rila Roberds and other relatives. Guests From Tennessee Week-end in the J.

The sting affected her heart and she was given treatment by Dr. Hayes and is now slowly improving.

Sherman Willborn was able to return to Knott, but he will not be able to work for some time yet. Miss Palmer Elected Miss Palmer of Bangs has oecn elected as a teacher in our school in vacancy left by the resignation of Miss Ruth Rice. Several from this community were business visitors in San Saba Sat urriay. I read with much interest the long article by Lindy in the News of th past week. If we all read it can get many good thoughts fron the article.

Several from this community at tended the singing at Shiloh on Sun clay, but many did not attend, du to the funeral in our community. We find much interest over th country regarding the session of th legislature and' the attitude of ou governor. Perhaps our people wi revive some lost interest in the government of our state and nation. During the past week farmers i this section made considerable pro gress in working out their fart crops. At present many would like receive a good rain.

Crops vitl segin to suffer greatly if we do not receive a rain in a few days. Fruits are now beginning to ripen melons and tomatoes seem to be doing well. An excellent prigram was held on Sunday night with 0. C. Chamberlain present from Milburn and several visitors present from Bowser, We were glad to have these visitors.

There will be no singing next Sunday night, due to church services. Monday morning the weather looks as if we mighe receive a rain and we are hoping we do receive it. The convention will meet again the second Sunday in September at Locker. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Insall and laughter, Shirley, from Hollywood, spent last Monday night and Tuesday with Mr. Insall's aunt, Mrs.

Julian Martin and family. They were enroute to El Paso where they will make their home. Mrs. Ira Phillips and iittle daughter, Barbara, left Thursday via Brownwood and Dallas, enroute to Chicago, where they will join Mr. Phillips, who is attending Cayue Electrical school.

W. Roper Pleasurable Event Something around 60 Bowser persons attended the San Saba County singing convention at 5hiloh Sunday. As Shiloh has no correspondent to the Xews, we'll take the opportunity to say that it was a successful affair and the Shiloh folks nuc it over in a big way. Basket lunch spread at the noon hour was a sight to behold; fried chicken, chicken and dressing, turkey, fresh tomatoes and other vegetables, salads, delicious cakes, pies and puddings, iced tea and to cap it all off Harmon Richmon was passing out Lousinay E. Miss Chapman has been making her home here with her aunt, Mrs. Hattie Richards. She was graduated this past year from the Richland high school'! The young couple will be al home on the Canning ranch where Mr. Haines has employment. The writer wishes them prosperity and happiness.

Miss Naomi Knight, Bride-Elect Feted A tea and miscellaneous shower for Miss Naomi Knight, bride-elect, was given by Miss La Verne Smith with Naomi's girl chum from Saba as co-hostess Friday afternoon in the basement of the Baptist church. A color scheme of meadow flowers featured in the decorations. The cakes, bride's book and small corsages of summer flowers presented to each guest were also in the chosen colors. A wedding morn's party was given by Jackie Spurlock. Gifts were bro't by special messengers.
