Her parents are Cipiriano and Lillian Garcia of Arroyo Seco. She is employed by Lujan-Primas Agency. Her fiance is the son of Edward and Frances Miller of Taos. He is the general manager at Auto Supply. Mandy Velarde and Marcos Dominguez The engagement of Mandy Velarde to Marcos Dominguez, both of Ranches de Taos, has been announced.

An April 18 wedding is planned at First Brethren Church in Taos. Her parents are Trini and Zandra Velarde of Ranches de Taos. She is a graduate of Taos Christian Academy. Her fiance is the son of Shona Williams and Patrick and Rose Anne Dominguez of Taos. He is employed by the Angel Fire Resort.

A July 4 wedding is planned at the Sagebrush Inn. Sherer is the daughter of. David and Linda Sherer of Taos.

She is a 1993 graduate of Taos High School and will graduate from Western New Mexico in Silver City in May. Her fiance is the son of Joseph and Virginia Valdez of Dixon. He is a 1989 graduate of Espanola High School and will graduate from New Mexico Highlands University at Las Vegas in May. anta Fe native Carla S. Romero became the new commander of the National Guard Armory Taos Unit (1115th Transportation Company), the first woman to head the post, on March 7.

"I am very excited to be the first female commander of the Taos unit," Captain Romero, 36, said. "The unit members and the community have made me feel very welcome. I consider this a challenge and am thoroughly looking forward to the next year." Romero, a graduate of Santa Fe High School and Santa Fe Community College, is a registered nurse. She is currently pursuing a bachelor of science degree in nursing at the Uni- versity of New Mexico. She enlisted in the New Mexico National Guard in 1982 as a private and worked with the 642nd Maintenance Company in Las Cruces until 1985.

Romero attended Officer Candidate School in 1989-90. She was assigned in 1990 as a second lieutenant with the 3631st Maintenance Company in Santa Fe. Romero went on to the Officer Basic Course and Officer Advance Course in Aberdeen, Md. Romero has served as platoon leader, battalion staff-officer, supply officer and maintenance company commander through her years with the National Guard. Romero is married to Thomas Barela of Santa Fe.

She is currently working full-time for the Logistics Arena as the Maintenance Officer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie; his son Richard; and daughter Susann. Memorial services are pending and will be Sunday, March 22, at 3 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge.

EVARISTO GARCIA, 100 years and five months old, passed away at the home of his daughter in Rio Rancho on March 13,1998. He was born In Cerro, NM and was retired from the New Mexico State Game and Fish Dept. He was also a member of the SPMDTU.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luisita Garcia, and his daughter, Orlinda Cardenas. He is survived by three daughters and one son, Mary Arelano of Questa, Lila Cerna (Ben) of Herseria, Eddie Garcia (Dolores) of Las Vegas, NV, Bonnie Kegley (Joe) of Rio Rancho, NM. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosaries were recited Saturday and Sunday (March 14 and 15) in Cerro. Funeral mass was held Monday, March 16 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cerro with burial next to his wife at the Cerro Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom Cardenas, Brent Kennedy, Robert Cerna, Edmund Garcia, Beto Herrera, Roman Cardenas, Ronnie Cardenas, Lonnie Cardenas and Danny Cerna. The Eulogist was Jerry Ben Sanchez. RIVERA-HANLON FUNERAL HOME LIBRADITA GONZALES, 89, a resident of Penasco, passed away Sunday (March 8). She was a retired school teacher. She is survived by her sons, Leroy Gonzales and wife, Dorothy, from Rodate, and Richard Gonzales and wife, Joanne, from Tucson, her daughter, Anna Marie Duran and husband Frank from Albuquerque.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great- great grand child, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass was celebrated March 11, 1998 at 10 a.m. at the Penasco Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by all. We Love You LOUIS A.

MARTIN, 68, of Taos passed away March 15, 1998. Mr. Martin was manager of the laboratory at Holy Cross Hospital for 26 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII and attended the.College of Santa Fe. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and President in 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Dina Martin; daughters, Yvett Driskell (Weldon), Leslie Martin-Mascarenas (Edwin) and Sue Martin-Trujillo (Robert all of Taos. He is also survived by his granddaughters Crystal Baca, Jalyssa Whitney and Jillian Hope Driskell, Myriah Layne Mascarenas and Jerrlka Skye Dirskell. Pallbearers were Weldon Driskell, Robert V. Trujillo, Victor Maes, Eddie Abeyta, Gary Jensen and Joe Archuleta. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 17, 1998 at Rivera Chapel.

Burial followed at Las Cruces Cemetery in Canon. Eulogy was delivered by Dr. William Drake and Michelle Parr. RIVERA-HANLON FUNERAL HOME MANUELITA C. MONDRAGON, 59, of Ranches de Taos passed away March 14, 1998.

Mrs. Mondragon began her career in 1974 at the treasurer's office and served Taos County as county treasurer for three terms. She was also one of the first employees at Wal-Mart. She is survived by her husband, Bennie Mondragon; her children Ronnie B. Mondragon (Anna) of Ranches de Taos and James Mondragon (Monica) of Albuquerque; her mother, Siria Mondragon; mother- in-law Manuelita Mondragon; her sister, Lorraine Martinez; and five grandchildren, Roxanne, Samantha, Tamara, Jamie and Jared.

Mrs. Mondragon is also survived by her God children, Isaac Romero, Justin Garcia, Andrew Martinez and Celina Lavadie; nieces and nephews, Lisa Martinez, Yvonne Tarango and Bill J. Martinez; and many other relatives. A rosary was held at Rivera Chapel on March 16, 1998. A second rosary was held at San Francisco de Asis Church on March 17, 1998.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at San Francisco de Asis Church on March 18,1998. Interment followed at the New Llano Quemado Cemetery.
