OBITUARIESNEWS VJJ1 1 U-TlllllJ ll J-J ASHEVILLE CITIZEN-TIMES SUNDAY, MAY 6, 2012 B3 STAFF SGT. BRANDON FORREST EGGLESTON Former NFL team exec Dick Beam dies at 75 BM1 education at a high school. He was a full-time assistant in his final two seasons. The Trojans won national titles in 1972 and 1974 and played in three Rose Bowls. Beam followed McKay to the NFL, working from 1976-80 with the Buccaneers as an assistant and director of administration.

He spent 1981-90 as director of operations for the Rams. He was general manager of the Orlando Thunder in the World League of American Football from 1991-92. Beam helped organize the NFLs American Bowl in London (1987), Tokyo (1989) and Berlin (1990). He also served as a consultant to the NFL at 29 Super Bowls, including last year. Beam began his coaching career at his alma mater, Whittier College, where he assisted coach Don Coryell.

He played three sports at Whittier, including football, where he was coached by George Allen and then by Coryell, both future NFL coaches. He is survived by wife Dorothy, son Donn, daughter Cathy Crofts and three grandchildren. School, Advanced Leaders Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Combatives Course Level 1, Survival, Evasion, and Resistance Course, the Special Forces Qualification Course and the Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat course. Eggleston's awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 2 device, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Parachutist Badge, and the Special Forces tab. He will be posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Purple Heart, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a third campaign star and the Combat Infantry Badge.

Surviving Staff Sgt Egg-leston is his Wife, Karen Reames Eggleston of Raeford; two daughters, Molly Eggleston and Avery Eggleston of Raeford; his mother Alisa Moody and her husband Paul of Pearisburg, VA; a sister, RAEFORD, NC Staff Sgt Brandon Forrest Egg-leston, 29, of Raeford, N.C. died when his mo bility platform struck an improvised explosive device during a patrol April 26, 2012 in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to Company 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C. and was deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. This was Staff Sgt.

Egg-leston's third deployment in support of Overseas Contingency Operations. He attended Western Carolina University and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 2006. Upon completion of basic training and advanced individual training, he attended the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course.

He completed the Special Forces Qualification Course in March 2009 and was assigned to 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg as a SF Communications Sergeant His military education also includes the U.S. Army Airborne ANNIES. ASHEVILLE Annie Laura Stephenson McNeil, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at her residence, surrounded by family and in the arms of her son-in-law with whom she shared a special bond, after a 10 year brave and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She remained happy and pleasant throughout her illness despite the physical and mental challenges of her disease. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County.

She retired in 1995 from Square following 26 12 years of service and was a faithful witness to her family and neighbors. She was loved by all that knew her and always put others before herself. She cared for her mother, aunt and cousin in her home. She freely gave her life to help others, expecting nothing in return. She found comfort in love of family and friends and her love of gospel music.

She was a loving, giving and Godly Mother. Mrs. McNeil was a loving daughter of the late Arthur Henry Stephenson and Mollie Ann Williams Stephenson and a loving and devoted wife to Brown Anderson Mc Erica Eggleston of Pearisburg, VA and his grandparents, Roy and Vicky Eggleston of Eden, NC Visitation will be held 3:00 until 5:00 Sunday, May 6, 2012 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304 Funeral services will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Rock-fish Church, 9949 Fayetteville Road Raeford, NC 28376 with Pastor Dan Stanley and Chaplain (Major) Jerry Waldrop officiating. Anders-R ice one's life Powered by Legacy.com' HAROLD GEORGE LUNSFORD ASHEVILLE Harold George Lunsford, 87 of Asheville, NC died Fri- day, May 4th, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Asheville. He was born October 13th, 1924 to the late Dewey and Hattie Louis Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford was an Army veteran of WWII and Korea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez McLean Lunsford; a sister, Ruby Treadway, and a brother, Robert Lunsford.

He is survived by his step-son, Steve McLean and wife Jeanie; two grandsons, Andy McLean and wife Pennie, and Nicholas McLean; a great-grandson, Couper McLean; a niece, Carolyn Conley of Simpsonville, SC; and a nephew, Michael Tread-way of Simpsonville, SC. Visitation will be Monday, May 7th, from 6 to 8 PM at Pemand Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa.
