held on the breaks four or five days in the week the stocks on this market are being kept within a reasonable limit although the -receipts are very large Offerings to-day were in the neighborhood of 300 hogsheads but were com- posed of very undesirable sorts of commou tobaccos for the untst part and the prices ranged accordingly but were as good as have been the case for these sorts for 'some time The sales are confined to the new crop altogether tut only once in a while do buyers observe a hogshead of the old crop The loose tobacco season is practically at an end as far as purchasing is prisoners escaped from the chicken coop known as a jail at this place One of them was under an eleven Months' and twenty-nine days' sentence the other for a good period This is the fourth time in a little over two weeks that escapes have been effected eight prisoners having gotten away only two of whom have been recaptured This alleged temporary jail is composed of two rooms one $ag and the other 7x8 which have had fetim eight to twelve prisoners confined in them during court Only half of them can sleep in the beds each night the other half sitting up Several cases of sickness are the
