Former Belleville Man Killed In Area Sand Truck Accident THE BELLEVILLE TELESCOPE, Thursday, November 29, 1979 3A A former Belleville resident was killed November 19, in a sand pit operation west of Minneapolis. Paul Girard, was killed after a loaded sand truck backed over him at Sand a sand pit operation on which he was co-owner. The truck, driven by a private operator, was backing towardAA truck scale to be weighed when the tragedy occurred, according to Robert Barefiald, attorney for Sand, Inc. Mr. Girard had been co-owner of the company for about one year.

Mr. Girard was born February 11, 1953, in Belleville, and had lived in nington since 1964, graduating in 1971 from Bennington High School. He was a member of the Belleville Wesleyan Church and the Bennington City Council. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Laurie Girard, of the home; his mother, Mrs.

Ardys Girard, Bennington; a brother, Willian C. Girard, Nickerson; and two sisters, Mrs. Floreine Lockett, St. Peters, and Miss Sheryl Girard, Bennington. The funeral was Friday, November 23, at Minneapolis, Rev.

David Heikes officiating. Burial was in a St. Joseph, cemetery. Roads of Great Concern For Republic Co. Leaders Discussions of various county road troubles and a chat with Representative Arbuthnot were highlights of the regular Republic County Commissioners' meeting Monday, November 26.

Commissioners viewed road south of Belleville and also met with citizens to discuss areas north and east of the community, said commissioner Larry Rundus. Garence Smith, former county engineer and a consulting engineer in Belleville, also met with commissioners to talk about recently occurring road problems. Commissioners said Smith attributed unusual weather conditions to much of the current road trouble. Smith said the early fall drought allowed roadbeds to dry out to an extreme extent, then recent slow rains saturated the beds and caused many to lose their firmness. Rundus said a period of dryness was now needed in order to allow county road crews to do any effective maintenance work on the roads.

"We to get some sand out, too," said Rundus. "I know there are a lot of roads in the area that need sand." The complaint states that Saatman had no account with that bank. The contractural suit is the Administrator of Veteran Affairs vs. Benton D. and Karen L. Jensen.

Deaths Rosa M. Klaumann Mrs. Rosa M. Klaumann of Fairbury died November 27, 1979 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairbury. She was 8,7.

Services will be November 30 at 2 p.m. at Funeral Chapel in Fairbury, with Roger Gillming officiating. Burial will be in Fairbury cemetery. Robin Cossel Robin Grace Cossell, daughter of Fred and Twyla Mansfield, was born June 27, 1956 at Spalding, Nebraska, and died November 21, 1979 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, at the age of 23. She grew up in the communities of Spalding, Primrose, Benkelman, and Narka.

She graduated from Hillcrest High; School in Cuba, Kansas in 1974. She was united in marriage to Terry Cossel. She had been living in Douglas, Wyoming prior to her hospitalization and death. She was a member and had served as a ruling elder in the United Presbyterian church at Narka. Survivors include her parents of Chariton, Iowa; two brothers: Michfel, of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Scott of Chariton, one sister, Erin, of Chariton; a grandmother.

Hazel Dobbins, of Lincoln, Nebr. Services were held November 25 at Douglas, Wyoming, and November 27 at the United Presbyterian Church in Narka with Rev. Tom Ballard officiating. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery, Albion, Nebr. Christena Larkins Christena Pauline Larkins, daughter of John and Kate Rhorer Crouse, was born at Lincoln, 111., December 25, 1884, and died at the St.

Joseph Hospital in Concordia November 23, 1979 at the age of 94 years, ten months and 28 days. She graduated from the Chester High School in 1903. She was united in marriage to W. Lee Larkins January 20,1914. To this union six children were born.

They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary January 20, 1979. She spent most of her life in the Chester community. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Chester. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ella; two brothers; two sisters. She is survived by her husband; one son, Willardof Concordia; four daughters, Evelyn Larkins of Chester, Mrs.

Shirley, Walta, Concordia, Mrs. Leonard (Hazel) Pleis, Aurora, Mrs. Lawrence (Fay) Tiemeyer of Braddyville, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; eighteen grandchildren. Services were held November 26 at the Church of Christ in Chester, conducted by Pastor Lacey Joincer. Interment was in Chester cemetery.
