old Centre College ot Kentucky made two touchdowns and defeated the Hoosler eleven by the count of 12 to 3. With the game almost over. It seemed that certain defeat awaited th Kentuckians. Then the unexpected happened. The Colonels did the thing they had failed on time and lime again.

By a series, of successful forward passes they planted the ball on the Hoosler fifteen-yard line and three line bucks by Roberts and McMillen put it over. Roberts failed to make a fair catch of McMlllen's kick-out from a difficult angle of the field. With only a minute and half left the ball was kicked off again and the LttIS.eleeiI was frantically trying everything it had in an effort to even the score. Jewett hurled pass at Minton. but McMillen.

the fleet-footed n.iSfp.eeJd merchant from Danville, intercepted it and quick as a flash shot out with the oval tucked secure- his arm- He dodged and stralKht armed the entire Indiana Mnn and over the Koal Une. McMillen missed an easy coal. What seemed a certain victory for "Jumbo" stiehms boys was turned into a triumph for the Southerners. Stake Strong Bid. In the second period the Kentucky players worked the ball down to the Indiana one-yard line, where the Hoo-sier line held like the proverbial stone wall.

Both sides were compelled to resort to the kick time and again: as it seemed impossible for-either to put the ball across on straight football. Indiana's three points came early in the first period, when Quarterback Mathys dropped back from the Kentucky thlrty-flve-yard line and booted-a beautiful field goal. Kentucky used the forward pass seventeen times and failed to gain a single yard thereby until the close of the final quarter. Indiana tried the aerial route only twice, the last attempt resulting In one of Centre's touchdowns. Meets State Next.
