-w 7 upposmoi 0 (toacIoi oj lonjunclwn of Phoenix SngravitujCbmpt S. HARRY ROBERTSON 35 East Washington St. Phone 11 First let me describe Jupiter and his habits. He's the largest of the planets revolving: with the earth around the sun. So great is his path that it takes him approximately 12 years to complete his revolution.

His electro-magnetic influence upon the earth, directly and through the sun, is so marked that weather lions can be accurately foretold months in advance by his mot-ements. Undoubtedly this sky giant also has a physical effect upon all-living organisms, from microbe to man, although this is a realm into which science is only just beginning to grope. Unlike the human malefactor, Jupiter boldly adver-tises his intentions in advance, through sun spots he creates when in conjunction or opposition with other planets his finger-prints, so to speak. Thus he leaves a record of his former offenses for scientific detectives and inquisitors to examine. This in connection with the fact that Jupiter repeats his performances with calculable regularity gives us a valuable clue in the influenza case.

Every six years, roughly, Jupiter crosses the ascending or descending Nodical line, which is the intersection of the plane of the sun's equator with that of the ecliptic. And that seems to be, for some still obscure reason, the "plague line." for the birth of violent epidemics from the middle ages to the present have always found Jupiter on or near that line. This was true of The great plague of Turkey, Greece and Italy, 1S67-6S. Bubonic plague, Milan, Influenza epidemic in Spain and America. J6S7.

Great cholera outbreak in London, 1665. Cholera epidemic of Constantinople. 1717. Cholera pestilence of France, Italy, 1S84. JCuropean influenza, 1SS9-00.

Present "flu" pandemic, now on wane, 131S-1S. -Vote that their duration approximated one year a period in which Jupiter hovers within 30 degrees around the nodical lines. In that position the planet is swinging to his farthest reach from the sun, when his waning electro-magnetic influence upon the earth is at its minimum and a probable though not yet scientifically demonstrable effect i nlowering human vitality. Plagues do not occur every time Jupiter is in that position, but Jupiter has always been near it when epidemics do occur. Xow 1 wish to place in evidence two accusing documents the accompanying diagrams showing the remarkable coincidence, if nothing more, between Jupiter's movements, sunspots and the rise and fall of the "flu" waves in the recent scourge.

They offer the most striking circumstantial evidence. The accompanying "flu" diagram, based on health authority statistics, shows that the epidemic "peaks" coincide with the dates on which sunspots generated by Jupiter were approximately on the' central meridian of the sun, where these spots more or less violently disturb earth conditions. The solar diagram shows the position of Jupiter in the "epidemic zone" of its swings around the sun. There are the significant facts. Whether variable planetary electro-magnetic energy incubates micro-organisms in destructive numbers at certain times, or whether it directly affects the sensitive membranes of throat and lungs these are speculations on which science is now groping into a new realm of pathology.

But that Jupiter has a marked influence on influenza propagation seems to be substantiated by the facts. offer this evidence to the grand jury of science in the hope that it may suggest new channels of investigation, identifying and combating the cause of influenza, and to the general public which expects from these men protection against a recurrence of the epidemic that has just claimed 400,000 lives in the United. States Lift Off Corns! "Freezone" is Magic! Lift any Corn or Callus right off with fingers No pain! Written for The Arizona Republican By PROF. ALBERT F. PORTA (Noted Sunspot Scientist and Forecaster.) Before the grand jury of science, now attempting to fix responsibility for the 400,000 influenza deaths in the United States during- the past year, 1 want to hale the planet Jupiter.

There is a strong circumstantial against him. Examination of his record -with respect to former great plagues reveals startling evidence an array of facts which I believe make this sky monster "partieeps criminis," as the lawyers say. The world's most devastating scourges have occurred when Jupiter hovered in a particular region of the heavensincluding the present abating "flu" pandemic which claimed several million victims. Historical and astronomical data prove that. And since science hasn't yet made a case against or even- identified any influenza germ, I offer the followin-tsetimony against the big, malign planet -whose electro magnetic influence upon the earth and its weather have observed and calculated for years: Jfit 5 MORALE PROVES SIMPLE, AFTER ALL or for knocks on the for self-pity others.

It menms: ti uyu i. gi uuui and you believe in me and we believe all the rest of the bunch, and all of us believe together that the crowd of us can do our work better and quicker than anybody else anywhere. Morale means a whole lot more than simply that we believe these things. It means that we make good on our belief.

It means that I don't sit down at my desk, or lean against a waP somewhere, and think dark green thoughts about the fellow upstairs or friendship, geared up to the motor of earnestness and applied belief. A business organization is just like an army if it hasn't the right sort of morale, good night! You can't buy morale, you can't make it ydu can't borrow it vou've got to have it. Try it! S0 swept over it. PETEY DINK (Wilbur Nesbit in the Wilsonian) There's one thing to be said in favor of the war it is getting us acquainted with a lot of new words. Words with punch in them words with a wallop to them. Right arm words, yon might call them.

One of these words is "morale." Ifs about the best word the war has given us. 'Morale" is a sort of high toned word for "team work." But it means a lot more than team work. Anyhow, "team work." like "efficiency," has been mouthed and written and printed so much that it lacks the ambition it once had. So along comes the war and gives us 'morale." Morale means that I believe in you By C. A.
