John Madigan for more than half a century a resident of the west side is dead at his home 169 Campau street after a brief illness Air Madigan for years conducted the teaming depart ment for Daniel Tells Why It Refuses to Pay $25000 AVith numerous flings at Corporation CounsA Timothy Tarsney the board of education files its answer to the pe tition of Mr Tarsnay in the circuit court that the board be compelled to show cause why it 'should not pay $25 000 for services in the railroad tax cases It is set up in the answer that the board could not lawfully enter into any such contract for the payment of fees to Tarsney and that the resolu tion to that effect was illegal It states that it was duty as corpora tion counsel to render such services if necessary without additional pay The board denies that Tarsney did any large amount of professional work in connection with the case and 'de nies that what work he did do was of any material profit and benefit to the board The board also
