some bowl of cut glass one makes an attractive ornament for the bathroom and fills a long felt want among womankind Correctly the powder should be applied after tae bath while the skin is still moist but with the old time diminutive puff this was quite impossible These puffs are all imported from the other side or at least the skins are for the reason that there is a trick about the curing of the some kind fate for bringing it again into artistic favor The newest models show the peplum as a smart waist fin ishing of which an example is sketched here Nothing could be more jaunty than this little street suit which with its small invisible plaid offset by the plain color of the collar cuffs and belt could not be surpassed in the center of fashion Scal lops like puffings and frillings are one of the recent revivals of olden time adorn ment and they appear to good advantage here 'The front buttons trimly up to where tiny revers reveal a small tucker The pleats on each side provide a mod Billy Van in Errand this afternoon and tonight The Tom Bur lesquei this afternoon and tonight Already there has been much talk of stock companies at ng llsh's and at the Park at the close of the i theatrical season which is now grow ing short Manager Ad Miller said yesterday that several offers had been' made by actors and actresses who de sired to come to after the close of the regular season but that nothing definite had arranged Manager AA all Bowlby of tlie Park made the statement that lie Park would I undoubtedly have a slock company of superior quality but the time was pre mature to stale definitely his plans The work of the ielding' Stock Company at the Park last season it is said will be equaled if not surpassed by the com pany which is now being arranged The Grand will probably close its I vaudeville season Mav 19 according to I Alanager Ziegler I With the two performances todav tlie Orpheum Show will conclude its second engagement ol tlie season at the Grand It was something of an experiment to bring this star vaudeville combination back to Indianapolis for a return engagement but results have shown that twenty tour per formances of such a high class vaudeville show are none too inanv for this citv Next season Martin Beck the director will have a brand new show to offer to amusement seekers Tlie bill next week opening Monday will have two headline attrac tions the Eight Allisons a troupe of Eng lish gymnasts and acrobats from the Lon don Hippodrome and Harry Corson Clarke the comedian who will appear in a one act comedy entitled in which he has the support of two other I players from the legitimate stage Mr Clarke has never been seen in tins city as a vaudeville star He is well re membered for his excellent work in the I farce hat Happened to and other amusing three act plavs in the I lighter vein Last season Air Clarke was at the head of a big company of his own Eleanor alk the singing comedienne who has just returned from Europe also will be on the bill She has not been seen in this city since the open ing season as a vaudeville house worst thing a burlesque mana ger has to contend with now is the lack of young and good looking chorus girls' said Harry Newman advance represent ative for the "Yankee Doodle who open at the Empire Monday "There was a time when tlie big beefy amazons who carried spears in the chorus were the real thing But now vou must have young and pretty gif ls with slender grace ful figures There is always a demand I for young chorus girls and at the pres I ent time they can almost ask their own price lou may not believe it but the chorus we carry is made up chiefly of young women who formerly worked in the various department stores of New York and Chicago They find the work easier they get double the salary they received in the stores and get to see the An added attraction with this show will be the AVith the who will present a novelty dancing act have to drink said Billy Aran In his dressing room at the Park while he was making up for his part in Errand As he spoke his dresser lifted the lid of a trunk and brought forth a pint of the best champagne which he put in abucket of cracked lee have to get away with part of a bottle of champagne at every perform said Mr "You might be surprised to know that I never touch a drop off the stage In the scene in which drink it I can spill as much as I want to and in that way do not have to drink much Yes I know it would be a pretty strong temptation to some actors to have a trunkful of champagne along with the props but it never bothers will have two days next week devoted to grand opera in English The Princeton Glee Club will have the bouse one evening and aside from these two attractions the house will be dark The sale of seats opened yesterday for the grand opera season and the large de mands shows the wide interest which is felt in Mr productions over In diana Several large parties will come from surrounding cities The Park next week will hare two at tractions another musical comedy ning tor written by George Cohan and of Working a thrilling melodrama Street Car Etiquette No matter what distance you may be going If some one takes the trouble to offer you his seat accept it with a you very It is most embarrass ing to a courteous man after he has arisen and proffered his place in tuc ear to have a woman refuse it witli such a remark as wish to take your though it is perfectly proper when an elderly man extends this politeness to say: you very much but I really do not mind AVhen paying the conductor try never to give pennies There are many other ways in which they can be used up and they are a serious nuisance to him when lie has so much change to carry in his coat pocket On the other hand count any change he may give you carefully before you drop it into your purse Once it is out of sight he has a perfect right to refuse to rectify any mistakes Do not expect the conductor to remem ber at what street you are to get off Nine times out of ten your request is unheeded and If you are not on the alert you will be carried far past the street Besides this Is not his duty and he would have a busy time Indeed if he remem bered every passenger's desired exit It is a great mistake to discuss per sonal matters with friends in the cars and equally bad form to gossip about your acquaintances There are innu merable instances of interested persons having overheard conversations in tins way and sometimes with bad results IN DEENSE WELSH RABBIT eating anything indigestible late asked a physician of a patidnt whose condition indicated some digestive dis turbance 1 doctor 1 suppose I might as well confess to a couple of Welsh rabbits last night and the night before'' replied the patient retorted the doctor who is one of the most successful practitioners in the city rabbits hurt you or any one else who is in reasonably normal health Eat all you want of them I eat one every night just before I go to bed and I recommend them to my patients who seem to be poorly nourished The idea that cheese in any form and espe cially in the form of a rabbit is injurious or indigestible Is an exploded old wives' tale On the contrary many persons who can not digest ordinary viands find that cheese agrees with them and they are able to get all the nutrition they need from this one source? Delicate anaemic women whose system needs building up can put on fat and regain health by eating plenty of Roquefort and Brie cheese and the or dinary American cheese is one of the most valuable foods
