THE FREEPORT PACTS, Freeport, Brazoria County, Texas 'i I' Exporters Beat Tarpons; Tarps Production Play Of Park Avenue Features City League i Probably the biggest upset in the county softball league the past week occurred when two 'Freeport team squared off here Wednesday of las in an 11-inning affair that saw 'the Freeport Exporters break loose "In the final frame to mop up the diamond with their more touted fel- low townsmen, the Freeport pons. Rogers' men took the lead In the second inning, Little singling 'to count Powell, who had walked. The Exporters tied it up In the fifth when Barnes singled, stole second and came home on Hammer' single. Winters' chargers collected an even dozen hits and committed but a single error.

The Tarpons figured In what no doubt was the other outstanding game of the week when they administered a 7 to 5 defeat to Production behind the pitching of Chester Powell, despite they were "out-hit 14 to 11. It was the fourth aet-back of the season for the second place West Columblaites and prevented the Production from wid- the gap between them and the third-place Tarps. Brazoria lost two heart-breakers to the Pipeline and Sweeny by one- run margins. The 5-4 Pipeline victory was registered after a pitch- Ing duel between Paul Wenzel and O. H.

After the Freeport All-Stars had taken the opener by a 10 to 2 score behind the excellent 4-hit pitching of Chester Powell, the Crown Can Company of Houston came back Saturday night to turn the tables on the locals in the closing skirmish with a 9 to 2 victory. The Freeporters won the Initial contest In a big first Inning drive that saw seven runs cross the plate as the result of three bases on balls, a hit, three errors and a sacrifice and then went on to add one each in the third, fourth and fifth frames. The visitors only marker was chalked up in the opening sided 11 to 2 score Thursday night and nosed out the Administrative 10 to 9 Monday. Park Avenue took the lead from the start and continued to add scores over the Yankees, but had to fighb an up hill battle to beat the Administratives, coming from behind in the closing innings. The pair of victories lifted the Parkmen lit of the cellar for the first time nd within a one-game striking listance of the Mechanical.

The Shippers continued to heir dizzy pace as they collected a couple of wins over Mechanical and Clute and coming a bit nearer cinching a place in the play-off. Girls' League With Johnnie Bell Vickers in rare form, the Freeport girls breezed to a couple of easy victories over Sweeny and Pipeline, winning from the former, 14-5 and plastering a 6 to 0 coat of calcimine on the lat- The Plpellners also fell before a Brazoria onslaught to the tune of 9 to 4. set frame when Tilly walked and spiked the rubber when Shiro trlppled. Whittaker was forced in with the local's eighth run in the third following four straight bases on balls. In the fourth Taylor singled, took second when Skinner walked and third on a passed ball and scored on Powell's infield out.

The All-Stars filled the bases in the fifth when Key, Stamps and Wood walked, Key scoring on Burney's Ingle and Stamps was thrown out at the plate. The Home Mission Society met at the church June 14, with Mrs. Amelia Meredith leader. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. W. V.

Walling June 28. Mrs. J. T. Dingle entertained at her home on the evening of the 16th, honoring the ladies of the Home Mission Society and their husbands.

Forty-two and Chinese checkers formed the diversion. High score for ladies went to Mrs. Wm. Wooley, while Archie Harrison captured the gentleman's prize. Door prize went to Nathan Green, traveling prize to Mrs.

W. V. Walling and consolation to Mrs. A. P.

Shannon of Houston were guests of Mrs. A. F. Shannon and son Follett, over the weekend. Miss Hazel Skinner of Lavernia is here for a few days visit with her grandparents and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Hudgins, Claude Clement from Phalr and Warren Moore of Alvln went to Oklahoma Thursday last on a business trip.
