Ralph Roggers, 539 avenue, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene W. Chapman, of Valencia Park were co-hosts at the celebration at the Chapman home celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of Mrs. Roggers' Mr.

and Mrs. John H. Chapman, who recently lived in the San Diego area until moving to Pomona. Mr. Chapman was born in Princeton, Mo.

His wife calls Humboldt, her home town. They were married on 22, 1909, at the home of his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. liam Chapman, of Chanute, Kan. Employed as a carpenter for many years, Chapman and his bride moved to California in 1912, but returned to Kansas in 1916.

In 1939 they returned to California and have lived here since. Last year their home at 4252 Boston avenue was destroyed in a fire. They spent the next six months at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, the Ralph Roggerses, of National City. In addition to their daughter, Mrs. Roggers and their son, Eugene Chapman of San Diego, the other Chapman children are Mrs Frank Turner of Elmwood, Denzel and James R.

Chapman of Pomona, and Bill H. Chapman of Rivera. The Chapmans have 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Woman's Auxiliary Plans Last Meeting NATIONAL CITY The last meeting of the year will be held by the Woman's Auxiliary Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Goodwill Chapel.

Election of officers and important yearly reports will highlight the meeting. Mr. James A. Gray, Past President of the Blind Center, will speak on "The Work of the Blind." He will also accompany on the piano for Christmas caroling. MR.

Margaret Mary Cannivan, the bride's niece served as flower girl in a gold-colored gown and carried a basket of turquoise carnations.

Thomas Cannivan was the ringbearer. RECEPTION A wedding dinner for 100 guests, friends and members of the family, was held in the US Grant Hotel's Crystal Room. The bride's mother received in a dusty rose colored brocade dress and an orchid corsage. The groom's, mother received in a blue lace dress and a similar corsage. Ray Cannivan was in charge of the guest book.

After a week's wedding trip to Las Vegas, the newlyweds are residing at their home on street. The bride, a graduate of Regis College, Weston, Mass. and worked for her Master's degree at Boston University, is the fifth grade teacher at Ira Harbison School. The groom, stationed at the Coronado Amphibious Base, attends San Diego Junior College, where he is studying engineering. BRIDE-ELECT Mr.

and Mrs. Lee Dudley, 1084 Guatay avenue, Chula Vista, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ruth, to Walter Anderson Priest, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Anderson Priest, of Glendora, N. J.

Miss Dudley is attending Hilltop High School and will be graduated in June. She has been a cheerleader and is circulation and business manager of the Hilltop school paper, "'The Lancer." The groom-to-be is employed at North Island as a test-rating examiner. CHI PTEROS Couples Club Plans Christmas Dance CHULA VISTA The Chula Vista Couples' Club will hold its Christmas dinner -dance at 7 p.m., Dec. 11, in the House of Friendship, Chula Vista Community Congregational Church.

Featuring continuous dancing to the nation's best bands via stereophonic hi-fi tape, the evening will include a catered turkey dinner, Santa Claus, Christmas carol singing and election of officers for the new year. Since this is a special event for the club, members have been asked to bring friends to the dinner-dance. The Couples' Club is non sectarian and open to all couples in the National Chula Vista and Imperial Beach areas. Reservations must be made in advance. Women to Attend Dental Fashion Show CHULA VISTA Mrs.

E. A. Kemler and her guests will attend the Fashion Holly Date show next Tuesday in the Palm Room of the U. S. Grant Hotel.

At the last meeting, Bethel 164 held their elections for the following term. Elected were Honored Queen Janet Maniss; Senior Princess, Janet Newlan; Junior Princess Donna Gee; Guide, Laucille Kaderli; and Marshal, bara Sheperd. Diane Thurlow, the bridesmaid, wore I a similar gown and carried flowers similar to those carried by the maid of honor. Charles Makins was best man. Gene Schmidt served as the usher.

A reception for 0125 guests in the Little Lodge of Glen Abbey, followed the wedding ceremony. The bride's mother received in a two piece silk suit of grey and white, and a corsage of baby pink roses. Katherine Lohman was in charge of the bride's book. After a few days of honeymooning in the Los Angeles area, the newlyweds will reside at 188 street. The bride attended Chula Vista High, where she was a member of the Harlequins and a member of the marching band.

The groom, a graduate of Almont High, is employed by a local steel and shipbuilding company. The groom is also attending classes at San Diego Junior College. Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pulliam and Mr.

He is touring the country as a guest of the State Department. -(Star-News Photo) CHULA VISTA A Nigerian customs official in this country on an invitation from the State Department, left for the east coast Friday after celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday in typical American fashion at a Chula Vista home.

Henry Duke, senior customs collector at Lagos Port, Nigeria, was the dinner guest here of Mr. and Mrs. Jack C. McClure, 231 street, and along with the family observed the holiday with the traditional turkey and mings. He was in San Diego five days to confer with customs officials here concerning mutual problems and to visit customs and border facilities.

Duke is one of ten officials from seven countries touring this country as guests of the State Department. SEMINAR AT PITTSBURGH He left Friday afternoon for Phoenix, Ariz. for a short stay prior to returning to the University of Pittsburgh Dec. 8 for a seminar. He attended classes in public administration at that university before coming to the west Following the seminar he will depart for Hiss his native country Dec.

Job's Daughters 146 Hold Officer Elections CHULA VISTA At a recent special election of Job's Daughters 146, Susan King was elected to fill the remaining term of office of senior princess.

On 1 Nov. 16, the Job's Daughters held their regular election. New officers for the coming year are Susan King, honored queen; Virginia Frederick, senior princess; Marilyn Griggs, junior princess; Ruth Dale, guide; and Cindy King, marshal. The girls will take their offices on Jan. 24.

The new Mrs. Gechter attended San Diego Junior College and is employed at Keltenburg Boat Works in Point Loma.

The groom was graduated from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach. He is presently attending San Diego Junior College and is employed By Tool and Engineering in National City. CHULA VISTA Mrs. Mary 'Harris of the San Diego Mental Health Association was the luncheon speaker at last Wednesday's meeting of the Chula Vista Altrusa Club. She came particularly to thank the members of the club for their participation in the Association's Christmas project of collecting gifts for the San Diegans who are now in Patton State Hospital.

Groups throughout the county have been asked to help in this effort to remember those who at Christmas time are often forgotten. This project is just one of the services, Mrs. Harris pointed out, which the association offers to the patients, at Patton and their families and friends. Another is a twice-monthly bus service directly to the hospital which has already resulted in speeding the recovery of patients whose families were unable to visit them prior to the initiation of the service. In addition, the association has and qualified, speakers available for who are interested in acquainting their members with its work and with the problems in this field.

Guests also of the Chula Vista Altrusa Club on this occasion were Henry Duke, collector of customs in Nigeria, Africa, and Pe Maung Tin, assistant secretary to the prime minister of Burma who met the members informally before and after lunch.
