Joseph Taylor Dav enport A Bowman and McLoughlin i Vi jtw Th Michigan Central Cattle Yards At the Michigan Central Cattle Yards an ef fort is being made to revive the practice of Sunday shipments The effort comes from a few rather than the 'many And while there are some rovers and butchers who 'are indif ferent or: th 1 question the better class are un derstood to be zealously opposed to' the pro posed change The latter claim that business has moved satisfactorily since shipments of live stock ceased on Sunday the depri vation of one day of rest in the week to all doing business at the yards (for ft shipments are made sales will take place) is a very seri ous matter No advantage can be gained by any one individual or corporation by shifting the shipping and buslness' day from Saturday to Sunday for the chances of gain would be open to all and all of necessity would join in the competition The cattle yards are not a popular institution in their neighborhood and the driving of herds of live stock through the streets at all hours on Sunday should not be re vived without a good reason therefor Those opposed to the change express the hope that public sentiment will sustain them in their de sire failing that there is a sufficient State law to help them and rather than be dragged into Sunday work again they say they will call on the law lor help npo RENT Stores Nos "19S and 197
