NEWS NOTES The 18th annual Florida Derby, a mile test for the nation's leading three-year-olds, will be telecast live and in color on "ABC's Wide World of Sports" SATURDAY, MARCH 29, from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, it was announced today by Roone Arledge, President of ABC Sports. The Florida Derby will be seen on the all-color program along with the Sebring 12-hour Grand Prix of Endurance from Sebring, and the NCAA Indoor Swimming and Diving Championships from the University of Indiana in Bloomington. ABC's Jim McKay will host the live segment and former jockey Sam Renick will analyze the post-race re-run of the Derby and interview the victorious rider. Veteran race broadcaster Joe Tanenbaum will make the stride-by-stride call. The Florida Derby has proved the No.

1 barometer of three-year-old talent in the United States. Nine of the past Florida Derby winners have gone on to the national three-year-old title. The leading Triple Crown thoroughbreds in training are probable starters for the $130,000 Florida Derby. They are Arts and Letters, Beau Brummel, Kike, Drone, King Emperor, Top Knight and Viceregal. Last year, Forward Pass romped to a triumph in the rich Gulfstream race.

Forward Pass went on to a controversial victory in the Kentucky Derby, an undisputed win ih the Preakness, second place in the Belmont Stakes and, eventually, national honors for the year in his division. Warren Beatty stars as a nightclub entertainer fleeing from the "mob" for his life, in "Mickey One," suspense-drama on "The ABC Sunday Night Movie," SUNDAY, MARCH 23. Co-starred are Franchot Tone, Hurd Hatfield, Alexandra Stewart, Teddy Hart and Kamatari Fujiwara. Mickey One, (Warren Beatty), a nightclub performer, tries to run away and hide when he gets very heavily into debt and is marked by the mob for death. In time, however, his agent Berson (Teddy Hart), gets him bookings in a couple of cheap dives and Mickey starts trying to climb back.

Dr. Hardy makes his appearance at the request of Dr. Jim Craig, (Robert Milli), his former student resident, to act as a consultant in the case of Meredith Lord (Lynn Benish). This marks a cross-country appearance for Dr. Hardy, who will travel from California, where "General Hospital" originates, to New York, where "One Life To Live" is taped, to do the four shows.

This is believed to be the first time a character in one serial assumes a major role in another. Although Dr. Hardy will not be seen in "General Hospital" for a week, he will keep in touch with hit staff by a series of telephone conversations. Dr. Hardy will return to "General Hospital" Tuesday, April 1.

Agnes Nixon is the creator and executive producer of "One Life To Live." Producers are Doris Quinlan and Don Wallace, who also directs.
