Leis, 4211 W. Roosevelt, died Monday in John C. Lincoln Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she came to Phoenix 20 years ago. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in New York.

Survivors include her husband, William; a son, George of Henderson, five daughters, Mrs. June Burke, Mrs. Mary Ann McGuire and Mrs. Rose Marie Sweeney, of Phoenix, Mrs. of Tempe and Mrs.

Margaret Batsche of Merrick, N.Y.; three brothers, two sisters, a halfbrother and a step-brother out of state; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. John R. Richards Marion Leis John R. Richards, 71, owner and operator of Lloyd Oil Co. in Warren, until retiring in 1965, died Tuesday in Doctors Hospital.

Mr. Richards, of 344 E. Carol, was born in Kent County, Ontario, and came here in 1973 from Los Angeles. He previously lived here a year in 1968. Survivors include his wife, Gleva; a son, Thomas C.

of Phoenix; three daughters, Mrs. Illa Jean Cooper of Denver, Mrs. Barbara Ann Kurmas of Thousand Oaks, and Mrs. Gloria Mae Lane of Northville, two brothers and two sisters of Ontario; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m.

Friday in Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis National Research Foundation, 3134 N. Seventh St.

Edna Reynolds GLENDALE Edna C. Reynolds, 87, who came to Arizona in 1892 from her native Mayhill, N.M., died Monday en route to Glendale Samaritan Hospital. Mrs. Reynolds, of 6018 W. Ocotillo, moved here from Bisbee 25 years ago and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Glendale.

Survivors include a brother, Jessie Slack of Marble Falls, two nieces, Mrs. Helen Beamish of Sun City and Mrs. Stella Robinson of Casa Grande; a niece and a nephew of Marble Falls. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in her church, 7101 N.

58th Drive. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Park. Grimshaw Brazill Whitney Chapel handled arrangements. Jesse R. Swain PRESCOTT Services for Jesse R.

Swain, 88, of Bagdad, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Ruffner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Swain, who was born In Keytesville, died Monday in Bagdad Hospital.

He was a retired rancher who moved to Prescott 11 years ago and last year to Bagdad. Patton Ursula Elizabeth Patton, 77, who was born in Glendale, died Sunday in the Arizona Pioneers Home in Prescott where she had been the past year. Mrs. Patton had lived in Arizona all her life and was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Phoenix and Luke Greenway American Legion Post Auxiliary. Survivors include son, Robert J. of Phoenix; two daughters, Dorothy a m- monn of Spokane, and Martha Patton of Pasadena, three step-children, John F.

Patton of Phoenix, Naomi Cobb of California and Ruth TranquilIde of San Diego; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m, Thursday in A. Moore Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Arthur E. Burgher dies; leader in citrus industry Arthur E. Burgher, 69, a prominent citrus rancher and packer in the Valley, who was on the committee which proposed the name Sun Devils for Arizona State University, died Sunday in a Los Angeles Hospital. Mr. Burgher, of 4836 E.

White Gates Drive, had been in Los Angeles three weeks for treatment. Active in civic affairs, he became a director and life member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds. Through the Thunderbirds he helped organize the Sun Angel Foundation and served as its first president. In 1960 he received ASU's Alumni Appreciation Award for his efforts in creating the foundation. Mr.

Burgher was a leader in the citrus industry, in which he became involved when he first came to Arizona. For many years he was the field director for Arizona Citrus Growers before going into the citrus packing business. In 1946 he opened the packing plant in Tempe now Carol L. McCaffery TUCSON Private services for Carol Lois McCaffery, 31, a registered nurse, will be today in A. L.

Moore Sons Mortuary, Phoenix. Cremation will follow. Mrs. McCaffery, who was born in Chicago and came to Tucson in 1971 from Denver, was found dead Sunday at a private home in Mesa. Survivors include her husband, Dr.

Michael K. McCaffery; and a daughter, Megan Karry McCaffery, both of Tucson; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stritar of McHenry, Ill. The family suggests contributions to the Society for the Advancement of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, 1779 N.

Thursday in Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet. Mrs. Byers died Sunday in Oklahoma City where she had resided the past four years. Before that she lived in Chandler since 1939.

She was born in Austin, Tex. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Gipson of Eagle Mountain, Mrs. Loyce Harris of Blanchard, Mrs. Lela Nunn of Pauls Valley, Mrs.

Madeline Merryman of The Dalles, and Mrs. Lucille Harrison of Kite, a son, Boyce of Jeffersonville, 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Jerry E. Clark SUN CITY Services for Jerry E. Clark, 84, will be at 2 p.m.

Thursday in Mercer Mortuary, 1541. E. Thomas, Phoenix. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Mr.

Clark, of 12415 N. 103rd died Tuesday in the Sun Valley Lodge. A retired restaurant owner who had firms in Ohio and Indiana, he came to the Valley years ago from Fort Wayne, Ind. An Army veteran of World War he was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Phoenix. He was born in Ossian, Ind.

Survivors include his wife, Corda B. Henry J. Tonyan Henry J. Tonyan, 80, who had served 19 years as highway commissioner for Lake County, died Sunday in Phoenix. Mr.

Tonyan, of 4924 E. Indianola, an Illinois native, came to Phoenix 21 years ago from Ingleside, Ill. A self-employed landscape engineer, he was former chairman of the Lake County Township and Officials Association. He was a member of the Church of St. Theresa.

Survivors Include his wife, Christina; four sons, Leonard of Livonia, Alvin and Henry Jr. of Illinois and Kenneth of McHenry, three daughters, Mrs. Della DiRocco, Mrs. Anna Belle Heck and Mrs. Joan D.

Carson of Phoenix; a sister of Illinois: 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Rosary will be at 8:30 p.m. today in Arcadia Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School. Mass will be at 11 a.m.

Thursday in his church, 5045 E. Thomas. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Melvin Holland Melvin Holland, 69, teacher in the Valley since 1929 who was active in civic and community affairs, died Monday in the Medi Center.

Mr. Holland, of 829 1 E. Flynn Lane, taught at Mesa High School until 1942 and after that at North and West Phoenix high schools and was a professor of social studies 21 years at Phoenix College. He was a member of the National and Arizona educations associations, the local and National Classroom Teachers Association. Born in Raritan, he came here 45 years ago from LaHarpe, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a son, Robert of San Jose, a daughter, Virginia of San Francisco; and two brothers out of state. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. Seventh St. Cremation will follow.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Phoenix College in care of Wayne Edland, 1202 W. Thomas, Phoenix 85013. Michael Sanborn GILBERT Services for Michael Larry Sanborn, 20, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet, Chandler.

Burial will be in Mesa City Cemetery. Mr. Sanborn, of 243 S. Palm, died Monday at his home. Born in Mesa, he was graduated from Gilbert High School.

He was employed by Bauer's Parts Equipment store in Chandler and had been associated with his father in the cattle business. He was a member of Trinity Community Church in Chandler. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Marie; and a daughter, Sharmin Marie Sanborn of Gilbert; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P.

F. Sanborn of Chandler; three brothers, Jerry of Bagdad, Terry and Ricky of Chandler; two grandmothers, Mrs. Estelle Sanborn of Chandler and Mrs. Lillian Barkley of Glendale. The family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity Community Church, 100 W.

Boston, Chandler. Cecil Clevenger Cecil L. Clevenger, 53, who was employed 13 years as an electronics technician for Motorola, died Sunday in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Mr. Clevenger, of 2310 E.

Roosevelt, was born in South Haven, and came to Arizona in 1959 from Omaha, Neb. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scottsdale and served in the Merchant Marine in World War II. Survivors include three sons, Robert of Covina, Darryl L. and Glenn E. of Scottsdale; his mother, Mrs.

Lillie Clevenger of Wichita, two brothers and a sister out of state. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden, Scottsdale. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery.

12th died Saturday of a long illness in Memorial Hospital. She was born in Phoenix. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. William G. her father, Victor Alani of California; three brothers, Bob Brothers of Washington, Kenneth Brothers and Timothy Cox of Phoenix; four sisters, Gail Faulkner, Dixie Cleveland and Lisa Alani of Phoenix and Vickie Alani of California.

Utah prisoner dies after facelift POINT OF THE MOUNTAIN, Utah (UPI) -A drug pusher has died after undergoing a facelift operation at the State Prison Infirmary. Prison officials said the operation on Thomas Madsen of Provo, serving five years for selling dangerous drugs, was performed by a doctor brought in from a local hospital. As Madsen rested in the medical facility, technicians noticed him breathing heavily. He was given oxygen and taken to a Salt Lake City hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Deputy Warden Leon Hatch said many inmates take advantage of the prison's free medical care to have cosmetic surgery performed.

Adams. Mrs. Howard, of 3050 N. 53rd Parkway, died Monday in a Phoenix hospital. She resided in Ray from 1948 to 1958 and in Phoenix since then.

Survivors include her husband, Richard three daughters, Mrs. Sidney Schultz, Lucy Ann and Pearl Maxine Howard of Phoenix; a son, Richard Jr. of Ft. Lewis, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Lee Templeton of Loma Linda, Mrs.

Opal Milligan and Mrs. June McMurray of Casa Grande and Mrs. Maxine Barnes of Scottsdale; two brothers, Paul and John Keeling of Eloy; and two grandchildren. Grace O'Harra Graveside services for Grace E. O'Harra, 75, a retired school teacher, will be at 3 p.m.

Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Bueler Mortuary of Chandler handled arrangements, Miss O'Harra died Monday in Redlands, Calif. She had lived in Phoenix from 1928 to 1950 and was a former member of Creighton Methodist Church. She was born in Francesville, Ind. Survivors include a nephew, Robert Grubel of Redlands.

Barbara Nix Mass for Barbara J. Nix, 66, who died Sunday in Doctors Hospital, was Tuesday in Sunnyside Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery. Mrs.

Nix, of 1528 E. Hatcher, was born in Chicago and came here years ago. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Robert; son, Robert of Chicago: a sister, Mrs. Helen "Mal" Malkowski; and a brother, Casey Grebb, both of Phoenix: two brothers out of state; and nine grandchildren.
