The HeftTne (Texas) Democrat, Thursday, October 24. 1968 Local Happenings From Franklin A. Wilder BUI Chandler Is visiting his' father, Thomas R. Chandler, and his brother, Ralph, and in the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Marvin Baxter. He has been transferred from Navy base in Georgia to fe Norfolk, Virginia Navy base. Ottier guests in the Baxter home fire their children, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pertlc and children, Don Baxter and Mr.

and Mrs. Gerald Elston, all of Houston. Mrs. Irene Ingram of Houston is vlsitirrg her mother, Mrs. W.

L. Ingram this week. Mr. and Mrs. James Sanders and sons, Keith and Perry, are vacation-ing in Colorado this week.

Their other son, Phil, is staying with his grandparents, and Mrs. E. P. Elliott, during their -absence. Mrs.

Mildred Saunders left for Arlington Saturday where she will visit for several days with Mrs. Opal Wood, Don Wood and Chris. E. B. Bounds, who has been receiving hospital treatment in Hearne for several days, left Monday for Dallas where he will receive therapy treatment.

Guests last weekend of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Elliott were her sisters, Mr.

and Mrs. W. R. Fisk and family of Waco, Mr. and Mrs.

James Poalston and children of Cleburne; their daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond 'Batten of Huntsville and Lt. and Mrs. Charley Clark of Bryan.

Lt. and Mrs. Clark are now in Fort Worth where he is taking special training prior to being sent to England for a three-year tour of duty. Mr. and Mrs.

C. P. Cox of Srrdthville were recent guests of his sister-in-law, Mrs. EJla Mae Cox. Mrs.

Martin and son, Rob, of Dentoa were weekend guests of her daughter, Mrs. A. N. Clanton, and Dr. Clanton in their mobile home north of Franklin.

Mrs. R. B. Truett returned Saturday from a visit with her mother, Mrs. A.

N. Weaver, and sister, Mrs. Howard Smith, in Arlington. She was accompanied home by a daughter, Mrs. Godfrey Grable, of San Francisco, Calif, who will visit her parents for several days.

Mr. Truett and Mrs. Alys Truett Scott met them in Hearne and returned them to Frunklin. Mr. and Mrs.

Pryse Metcalfe i Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Phillips attended the Arkahsas- University of Texas grid game in Austin last Saturday evening. Mrs.

Charlotte Hunsucker of Corpus Christi has returned to her home after a visit with her daughter in Middlebury, Vermont and en route stopped in Franklin, for a visit with Mrs. T. P. Metcalfe. The two were girlhood friends, having grown Saturday night.

Mr. and Mr. Clyde Cox visited his mother, Mrs. Ella Cox, and Ihis sister, Mr. and Mrs, Nester Leamon and son, Brad, over the weekend.

Cox has recently been discharged from duty with the Navy and he and his wife are liviing in Houston where both are employed. SEWING CLUB The Franklin Sewing Club met last week in the home of Mrs. A. C. Horton "where a covered dish luncheon was enjoyed at 18:30 p.

m. Mrs, L. J. Bxistow presided over the business meeting which followed. It was voted to hold a bazaar during the month of December among the memberj of ithe club.

A donation of $5.00 was presented to the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department. Members present were Mrs. L. E. Alppleby, Mrs.

Mae McCoy of Hearne. Mr. and Mrs. John WilkinS of San Antonio were weekend guests of his mother, Mrs. Durie Wilkins.

Mrs. Wilkdns returned home with them for a visit. Mrs. Leonard Scott is in a Marlin hopital this week for diagnostic tests. Duncan McCormAck of Bllnn College at Brenhatn was a weekend guest of his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Clyde MoCormdck. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Crane of Huntsville spent weekend Sam Houston State College at Huntsvilel, John Locke, Edwin Blam and Richard Baldeschiwiler University.

and Mrs. O. H. McCollum have returned home from a trip to St Louis, Miissouri where they attended the opening games of the World Series. They were accompanied on the trip by hit sister and brother-In-tew, Mr.
