Members of the three boards and Dr. Kenneth Walker, superintendent of the Prescott Unified district, and Walker's assistant, Dr. James Swains, discussed the matter Thursday night. Parents were barred from that meeting. Swain said parents were not admitted because the meeting was supposed to be between a school board member from Skull Valley "and a couple of his friends." Swain said he was surprised when he found a crowd of parents waiting outside the office.

The meeting was enlarged to include the school board members, but parents were excluded to avoid "getting into a shouting match," Walker soid. DAVID George Hopper was charged Friday with murder in the death of his wife, Josephine, about 50.

Cochise County sheriff's deputies said Hopper reported finding his wife dead in their home about 8:30 a.m. Friday. The death, deputies siad, was apparently caused by a blow to the head.
