Sirs Dodegan her own parents having been dead for a number Of years She at first declined to talk of her marriage but on the advice of her foster mother concluded to give the whole story of her acquaintance with the man whose widow she claims to be met Mr Myers in 1882 at the house ot Mrs Ellen Jeffries on Jackson street iu the City of Jackson where I was visiting Sirs Jeffries hav ing formerly lived in Ann Arbor where I became acquainted with her Two months after I met him we were married I was then 23 years old This occurred July 6 1882 at Mrs where Mr Myers had boarded for several months There were present at our marriage Cora and Myra Jeffries daughters ot the Mrs Jeffries 1 have spoken Of my mother and a gentleman named Martin Rev Henry Beebe who now lives in Chi cago performed the ceremony We lived together there for two months and never ha I any difficulty whatever but August 10 of that year Mr Mvers took our to have from that did not know what had become of him Prczmewska of 02 Indiana street testi fied to seeing the mld wite iu atten lance on the de ceased Mis Lukassek through one ot the jurymen who acted as interpreter said that she bad been a mid wife tor eighteen years She studied for three months but bad UO piotna and did not know whether she was registered or not She claimed to have references from st veral physicians as to her competency to practice The witness related tbe condition she found tbe deceased in when she first called at her house and detailed her treatment There was another Polish woman in attendance before her arrival lhe hanging in the garret ot his residence No 24 Bris tol Place on Sunday morning last was investi gated by the Coroner yesterday afternoon Thomas a plumber who lives at 33 Beecher Place testified that he never heard ot Davis being a drinking man and believed him to be of sound mind William lynn a step son of the deceased said his father came home on riday night iu a state of intoxication His mother was engaged at the time in baking bread aud he told her to let it alone He took her into a room and talked to her and was very crowi before he left be begun breaking things up in the house The witness saicftliat tbp deceased had been intoxicated only twice in five years Ho detailed how he found him hanging in the garret as heretofore published The suicide was discovered by him while he went out at the request of his mother to close the outside garret door Other testimony was offered which did not throw any light on motive for taking his life and the jury rendered a verdict that he com mitted suicide by hanging himself while tempor arily deranged a convict's death An Indian prisoner iu the House of Correction named James Swaneke who was sent from the United States Court at ort Smith Ark in
