Peekskill: Opening weekend for HVCCA's Peekskill Project is Sept. 29-30.

A citywide public art festival devoted to bringing contemporary art out of the museum and into the community. Peekskill Project activates the urban environment and its inhabitants through site-specific art exhibitions, performances and screenings sited in multiple venues throughout Peekskill. The exhibit has been organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stock-bridge, Mass.

Sept. 29-Jan. 13. "Holly Sears: Hudson River Explorers" Riverscapes by Holly Sears that will soon be fabricated for 11 glass panels in the newly constructed south and north overpass corridors on the Hudson Line at the Tarrytown Metro-North Station. Her paintings will mark the 25th installed artwork in the Metro-North system.

The images depict the flora and fauna of the Hudson both actual and fantastical. The exhibit is organized by the museum in collaboration with MTA Arts for Transit. Through Oct. 13. "Unnecessary Memorial II (Palisades) 2012" From "Foregrounding the Palisades," a collaborative project of the Hudson River Museum and Wave Hill.

Within sight of the Palisades, Blane De St. Croix has created two sculptures that explore the beauty of the cliffs that frame the Hudson, an outdoor sculpture at the Hudson River Museum and an indoor sculptural environment at Wave Hill. Both share a vista of the Palisades landscape. Through Dec. 2.

"Ice Age to the Digital Age: The 3D Animation of Blue Sky Studios" Organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stock-bridge, this display takes a behind-the-scenes look at the world of digital animation with the artists of Blue Sky Studios, creators of the blockbuster films "Robots," "Ice Age" (and its popular sequels) and "Rio." From first conception to finished frame, this exhibition explores the revolutionary process of 3-D animation through the eyes and achievements of a world-class creative team. Through Jan. 20.
