lloi'OHTON, Andrew li. Hodges, Willianisburgh. Tiioma8 Green, Caleb S. WooniK'tL, 5 James R. Whiting? Pew lork' Tie Directcrs, in offering this Stock to tho public, would remark that stroams sufficient for a full sup- ply of water to Brooklyn and Williarasburgh, with an aggregate population ui already been purchased that hereafter, by continuing the Aqucduot to a point less than thirty miles from Brooklyn, that supply may be doubled the ground for a Reservoir on Cypress Hills (48 acres) has been secured, and a considerable amount of iron pipes for street mains 19 already delivered.

The streams referrel to 'are beautiful running brooks, each giving a very uniform flow throughout the year, and upon careful analyiatien by Doctor Chilton, are found to bo of much greater purity than tlio lar tamed Lruton. In the construction of the works neccst iry to introduce the water, there are no serious natural impedimenta to encounter, and the estimates of able Engineers, furnish concurrent testimony that the Aqueduct proper, the Reservoir, and the great mains from the Resorvoir to both cities, together with many miles of distributing pipes, may be oimploted in two years, within tlw amount of capital. If Brooklyn anl Williamsbnrgh ore over supplied with water, it must come from tho sources indicated there are no other accessible ones, and of those considerably more than one half, now belong to this Company. In tho preliminary investigations, and surveys, John B. Jarvis, Wm.

J. Mc- Alpine, Ward B. Burnett, Daniel Marsh, anl J. S. Stoddard, have bean consulted or employed, through whose skill and judgment the general plan of the work has been arranged, and so many of the details adjusted, that tho construction of tho Aqne duct and Reservoirs may bo commenced without de- luy, and completed with as much rapidity as economy will permit.

The directors do not think it nocossary In this place to pint out the manifold advantagos rosulting to a city bountifully supplied with pure and wholesome water its absence iu Brooklyn and Wiltiams- burgh is painfully felt by more than two hundred thousand persons, and is the only instance within tho Cnitetl States of such a population so circumstanced. Tho statement of this fact alone ought to move the wealth and enterprise of these two cities to inline diate and vigorous action. No other expenditure of money that can be made will so rapidly advance the aggregate wealth of the two cities or add so much the comfort, convenience, and health of the wkilo as an investment of capital merolv. its ultimata productiveness cannot bo reasonably questioned. Copies of the Act of Incorporation, which is liberal in its provisions, and of the engineers' report, may bo had gratuitously, at the office of the Company, N03.

Ten per cent of each subscription will be required in cash, for which scrip will be issued at an early day, and the bal men in smal installments at such times as the directors may by due notice require. imm pt. 27, 1853. A Xew Cabuieu'b Route fob the Stab. I'twm residing sentili of DtKulb avenue, can hare Star left at llieir residence every afternoon by tluir numct at tlie office, or by line direcka to Star OJice, and left at the Post Excitixo Acroixr or a Balloon AsiE.vr A Juvenile Aebonaui, TUe'follon-injj account uf a strange adventure, and wonderful escape of a young hoy is taken from the Alia California of the 2'Jtli and 30th lilt. About 2,000 persons collected yesterday afternoon at Oakland to see ilr.

Kelly mako tlio promised ascension in his balloon. The balloon for the occasion was one of the largest size, about 18 feet in diameter, and uinde of yellow silk. The scene for the ascension was in the town not far from the wharf. The arrangements for the manufacture of gas were not properly managed, and at 1 o'clock, the time fixed for the aseen-tion, the buloon was not more than hall' full. At 3 o'clock it was two-thirds full, and the crowd becoming impatient, Kelly determined to try it lie had provided blankets, provisions, ba of sand, and so forth, but the balloon would not rise with him.

Kelly being rather heavy, several lighter men then got in, but they were till too heavy. During this time the balloon was loosened and moved otf about 200 yards, sweeping along near the ground. The crowd called lor a boy, and 4 of them who were near cried Let me go." The car had been taken off so us to make tho balloon as light ns possible, and a lijrlit hoop about an inch square and three feet in diameter, with a light board four inches wide lushed across the middle, ottered the only position for a seat Upon one end of this board where it rested on the hoop, a boy named Joseph Gates, aged ltl years, took his seat Kelly a partner, who was at a little distance, cried to them to hold on till he had given the boy the proper directions but lie had barely time to tell the bov to pull the rope when he should wish to come down, when the pel-sons near let go, and the baloon arose rapidly. It first took a southward course until it had gone about two miles, when it struck another current of air and took a northern course, and when last seen was among the clouds, probably northeastwardly of Oakland, and 800 or 1,000 feet hiyh. The boy was a fruit vender of this city, and was selling fruit in Oakland yesterday morning.

His parents live iu California street llo went up without any provisions or any clothing except an ordinary suit lie weighed about niue-tv pounds, and appeared to be about 12 yenrs of age, though he was really sixteen. lie caught hold of the valve rope, when Kelly's partner told him that it would be necessary to pull it to let the baloon down. Some persons aid they saw the boy pull the rope and saw it break but this is not probable, as the mpe appeared strong enough to bear two hundred pounds, Xo sooner had the balloon risen than the crowd began to express their regrets. Kelly tried to pacify them by saying the boy had been up before, but all his companions denied it. llo had not even fixed himself properly on his scut, but was sitting on the edge of the hoop and leaning back upon a rope.

It appeared that if he did not succeed in opening the valve let himself down, ho would be in danger of becoming so numb with the cold as to fall or he might be frown to death by the extreme old. lie however arrived the following evening in the Sacramento boat, safe except a sprain in his ankle. He landed in Suisuii Valley, fifteen mile from Benicia, and five miles from any house. He retained his presence of mind throughout, during the hour and a half that he was in the air, in which time he travelled about fifty miles. lie was excited when ha started, but when lie had risen a slight distance he became perfectly collected, and leaned back iu an easy po sitiou against the cords.

Here he sat, nnd for a long time heard the cries of the crowd below, and saw the whole buy and the country from San Fmnciseo to Sacramento. The oidy unpleasant sensation he felt was cold in his feet He took oil' one shoe, and tied a liatitlkursliief about his foot, and then took otf the other shoe, but dropped his handkerchief, and had to put on that shoe as it was before. lie wanted to come down soon after the balloon started, but the rope broke; but he was not disconcerted nor frightened, lie knew very well whither the balloon was going, and. wanted to lnnd near licuicia, but could not climb the ropes to cut the balloon, as he wished. This he knew WW his only hojie, and he persevered until ho succeeded iu getting up to tho body of the balloon and cutting a hole with his penkuife.

He was careful not to make the hole too large, and when he was satisfied that it was uf the right size he slipped down to the hoop, 'ihe balloon descended very gradually, and as it reached the ground in the open plain he sprang off. 'Hie balloon, lightened of his weight, roae again rapidly. He then walked fire miles before lie reached a house, and the next day be walked to licuicia. This tvrouautie Lour is, undoubtedly, one of the most remarkable on record. When we consider the youth and inexperience of tho navigator, the unexpectedness of the trip, the scanty accommodations, his success in climbing up the 1 .1...
