Halimon Hopes European Cage Loop Success NEW YORK (AP) Shaler Halimon, one of the better-known U.S. athletes headed for the new European Professional Basketball League, hopes the change will inject new life into his failing career. "This is really a tremendous opportunity," said Halimon after he was selected by the Switzerland Alpines as their top choice in the EPBL's draft, which netted more than 200 players. Halimon, 29, had been a journeyman forward in the National and American Basketball associations since leaving Utah State in 1968.
