In its process of re-refining lubricating oil reclaimed from automobiles, Burrell Dorsey, chief engineer, has invented and patented an acid neutralizer to counteract a troublesome ingredient found In all lubricating oil. The process consists of dissolving litharge and caustic soda in a stream of steam, so that they form a solution that can be injected in the oil. This is the final treatment before the oil is ready to be placed on the market. The firm recently placed an electrically heated still, using "cal-rods" for the direct application of heat, in operation and has found the method very successful, Dorsey said.
