Bransford was stricken at his desk in the commission office. Born in Lonoke, December 6, 1894, Bransford came to Tucson in 1918. He served many years in the county treasurer's office, rising to chief clerk. He was treasurer from 1930 to 1934 and again from 1939 to 1943. During the interim he was chief deputy.

Bransford was a past exalted ruler of the Tucson lodge No. 385. Elks; a former vice-president of the Tucson Junior Chamber of Commerce; a past monarch of Grotto-Alton Kol; and a member of the Masonic, Royal Arch Mason and Scottish Rite lodges.
