The star is Deanna Durbin. For the past few years, the advent of each new Deanna Durbin picture has been one of the outstanding events of the cinema season.

Each pictured the young star in another phase of her growing-up process. This new offering presents her in a grown-up role and the most romantic story in which she has yet appeared. Deanna is presented as a village maid who goes to the city in search of the destiny prophesied for her by a fortuneteller. In the metropolis, she meets and falls in love with Robert Cummings, who is a gay young blade. The picture tells the progress of their love affair over a bumpy and highly laugh-filled road of complications.

Auer Heads Support Mischa Auer heads the cast of fine supporting players. The lanky Russian is cast as a village slicker who tries to cheat the star out of a goat by means of a wager that he can perform the czardas, a wild peasant dance, longer than can Deanna. She accepts the bet and, to Mischa's surprise and mortification, it is he who becomes exhausted. Gary Cooper and Madeleine Carroll, as the stars of the picture, top an all-star cast in which Paulette Goddard, Preston Foster, Robert Preston. Akim Tamiroff, George Bancroft, Lynne Overman, Lon Chaney, and Walter Hampden contribute superb individual performances. Several thousand persons are seen in this Paramount picture.
