The agreements with the Pacific Coast Shipowners Association brought to a formal close a four-day "sitdown" strike which was tentatively lifted Thursday pending negotiations, releasing more than 200 ships immobilized by the walkout in Pacific ports.

The wage Increases were retroactive to June 19, and other contract provisions to June 15. Shipowners spokesmen said all contracts with waterfront and seamen's unions now run for a full year except for agreements with two -American Federation of La-for sailors' unions, which expire September 30.
