suburb have been completed and with the exception of one machine all of the machinery has been placed and is i OUND ILLICIT DISTILLERY Sheriff Sammers and Deputy Ward Locate Una In Turnersburg Township Sheriff A Summers and Dep uty Sheriff Ward went to Turnersburg township Tuesday to look after the moonshiners of that section and they were successful in locating one plant near Mr place rom all appear ances the operators had been doing a good business but haa evidently just completed a the eve ning before as there was nc beer nor mash at the plant The officers were fortunate enough however to find two gallons of corn lia and this was brought to town with the 125 gallon still and other fixtures and turned over to Deputy Collector Davis who will dispose of lu lur uncie oam There was no one at the still whan the officers arrived and they secret ed themselves near the plant to await developments While they waited two boys both of whom were recognized came to the still after slop but were allowed to come and I go unmolested The reports they had heard the lo cation of the still the identity of the boys and other things led the offi cers to believe the still was being daughter of Dr rsass tne veterinarv surgeon Mor ford was dissipated and was often in trouble in the police court A few months age he died in Ashe ville Morford bad always told his friends here that his familv nArish ed in the Galveston flood Through letters received after death Dr Bass learned that his name was not Morford but Sirlnov Payne Arnold and that his parents lived in Houston Texas Being ad vised of their death they ask ed that his wife and child be sent to them Mrs Arnold (Mrs MnrfnrH that was) and child went to Texas and are now with her people Arnold or Morford AR 11A wnc many friends i was that of Miss Gretta Long and Mr Oscar Sherrill of Catawba which was solemnized last evening in Newton at the residence of the oriae brother Dr Long Rev Dr Clapp performed the ceremony Mr and Mrs Sherrill left this morning for Jamestownand will later go to lorida where Mr Sherrill proposes practicing The bride is a sister of Postmaster Tong of Statesville and is well known here She has oeen living in Hickory with her sister Mrs Black welder Both the bride and groom were reared at Catawba Mr Sherrill is the son of Capt Jas Sherrill of that place and has many friends and Marriage at Box Sapper and Other Things Correspondence of The Landmark Tuesday evening at 8 Clarence Lentz and Miss Carrie Wagner were married here at the home There was just a very quiet little wedding as befit ted the parties most interested Mr Lentz is a railroad engineer of Wins ton Salem and is a man of no osten tation He believe in fuss and feathers The bride is adaughter of Mr A Wagner and shines brightest where a willing hand is needed in a home They 1 left yesterday morning for Stony Point to visit Mr home folks rom there they will go to Winston where they expect to begin house
