Born in 1917, in Bridgeport, CT, "Bob" from Darien (CT) High School, served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. After teaching in CT for 15 years, he retired and moved to Litchfield Park and taught for an additional 10 years at Agua Fria High. Bob was an active Scouter, Rotarian, Shriner, a Deacon in the Church at Litchfield Park and was active in many other community service projects. Memorial services will be held, at a time to be determined, at the Church at Litchfield Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made, in Mr. Abbott's name, to the Grand Canyon Council, Boy Scouts of America, 'the American Cancer Society, or a charity of the donors choice. Ruth Janette Ahlf, 82, of Phoenix passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2004. Ruth was born in Valentine, Nebraska and married her husband Doug in England during World War II. Ruth was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S.

Army serving as a nurse during the war, stationed in England and Germany. She spent most of her life in Worthington, Minnesota where Ruth and Doug raised their family. Ruth also worked as a nurse and helped run the Ahlf Drug nurse and helped run the Ahlf Drug Stores. Doug and Ruth retired to Arizona in 1984 and lived in the Ahwatukee area. Ruth is survived by her husband Doug of 59 years; son Kent and wife Patty of Seattle, daughter Barbara Burton and husband Gary of Scottsdale; grandchildren Jason and Ryan Ahlf, Jeff and Juli Burton; sisters Edith McCormick and Jean Todd of Valentine Nebraska; along with many loving family members and friends.

Family services have been held. Ruth will be dearly missed by all. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower, Phoenix, Arizona 85014. Wyman Cremation Burial Chapel.

Bertha Velez Altamirano, 58, of Phoenix, passed away November 19, 2004. She was born in Hondo, Texas and was an active member of the Alta Vista Adult Center. She is survived by her husband, Jose E. Altamirano, 2 sons, Jose E. Altamirano, and Antonio J.

Altamirano, 2 daughters, Cecelia Gaitan, and Joanne Martinez Altamirano; 3 sisters, Maria Esparza, Belia Carmelo and Martha Esparza; 1 brother, Enrique "Henry" Esparza, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, November 29, 2004 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 6200 S. Central Phoenix, AZ, Rosary at 7:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 30, 2004, 10:00 AM also at St.

Preston Funeral Home serving the family. William (Bill) Ronald Bannister, 69, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2004. Bill was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and became a naturalized American in 1972. This remarkable man lived a remarkably full life. twelve, he won the "Golden Glove" in boxing, taking his athletic talent to the Canadian Navy at 17.

Thereafter, he joined the Four Emcees singing group. They toured Canada and parts of the United States sometimes as the opening act for Sammy Davis Jr. and Andy Williams. Bill began his long career in sales, a profession he was very proud of, selling children's wear via a travel trailer throughout Ontario. He was also top-producer at O'Keefe Brewery before moving his family to Arizona in 1968.

He continued his career in sales, but he always had a calling to be his own boss. After many business ventures, with his wife Noelia as his partner, they formed Bannister Properties, ultimately becoming land developers. Their first major recreational land development was in Catron County, New Mexico. Bill called it The Last Frontier and in so many ways it was. He and Noella made names for themselves by creating additional subdivisions in the area where literally hundreds of people enjoy land ownership in one of the last unspoiled parts of the country.

Bill always had a entertainment wonderful sense of humor. She owned the Tiger Den Restaurant for 37 years. Her survivors are her son: Joe Munoz and wife Gloria of Glendale, Arizona, Her Daughter: Yolanda Matty of Guadalajara, Mexico, her sister: Maria Jesus Munoz of Globe, Arizona, her granddaughters: Natalie Munoz and Katrina Lopez of Glendale, Arizona, her great-granddaughter: Marisela Lopez of Glendale, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. Bart L. Cary, age 43, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at Genesis West, venport, after courageous battle against cancer. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2004 Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation will Sunday from 3-7 p.m.

Bart was born on February 6, 1961 in Davenport, lowa, the son of Dallas P. Cary and Sandra J. Jones Hanson. He attended Bettendorf High School where he was a wrestler. He had continued to be a Bulldog supporter and an avid lowa Hawkeye fan.

Mary Lou Costlow, 75, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on November 24, 2004. A Memorial Mass and celebration of her life were held on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8620 N. 7th St. Contributions to: Most Holy Trinity St. Vincent De Paul Society.

William Louis Diehl, age 94, of Chandier, AZ. Passed away peacefully November 25, 2004. Lou was born in December 10, 1909 at Wheeling, WV, Dignity educated in Ritchie (grade) school, and graduated from wheeling High School in 1928. He graduated from Linsly Tech In Chemical Engineering. He was employed by Wheeling Steel Corporation from 1931 until 1966 serving as Chemist, Metallurgist, Assistant Superintendent of Galvanizing, and Superintendent of Continuous Galvanizing.

He joined Republic Steel in 1966 and serving in Managerial capacities in coated products and retired in 1974 as Chairman of Coated Products Committee. Lou was recognized as an industry authority on galvanizing process of steel and held patents on the coding process in the United States of America, Canada, and all N.A.T.O. countries. He was commissioned as a lieutenant USNR on February 22, 1944 and served on active duty until August 1946. He resigned his commission in 1953.

He was a Past Master Councilor of Wheeling Chapter Order of DeMolay and received the degrees of Order of Chevellier and The Legion of Honor. His Masonic history is: Past Master of Ohio Lodge Wheeling, W.V. A 32nd degree Scottish Rite Member, and a Member of Chapter and Council York Rite Masonary. Lou is survived by his son, William "Skip" Louis Diehl II, his wife, his Grandsons, Scott and Jeff, his stepson, Al Yeager and his wife, Sheila. Four Grandchildren and six Great-Grandchildren.

It was what he called "Bill Bannister's Fuelish his response to the energy crisis of the 70s. It was followed by additional humorous songs poking fun of whatever fancied him. Bill was a loving man who profoundly touched so many lives. He would give the shirt off his back for those less fortunate. He had an unbreakable spirit.

This strong man, both physically and spiritually, battled a rare bone disease for 40 years. His bravery was inspiring. His body has been donated to LifeLegacy for research. Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Noella, daughters Lori Veljkovic and Margie Berbling, son Bill, sister Barbara McHattie and her husband Ron, and grandchildren Lindsay, Lauren, Michael, Michelle, Harrison, Ryan and Carson. He joins his daughter, Lora Bannister who passed away much too soon.

Bill's last days were spent at Hospice of the Valley (Dobson Home). Please send your donations to this wonderful organization in lieu of flowers. She was born January 17, 1937 in Euclid, Ohio, and moved to Arizona in 1960. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Helen, her Godmother (Nanny), and her first born son, Michael.

She is survived by Gerald Gish and their children, Kim, David, Jill, and Mark, and their spouses, Fred Vidaure, Geri Gish, David Popple, and Amy Lilja; Five Grandchildren and Ten Great-Grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Typographical and Communications Workers Unions, and worked for Phoenix Newspapers, Inc. for 25 years, retiring in 1999. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Gilbert Fimbres, 66, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away November 20, 2004.

Gilbert was born May 12, 1938 in Phoenix, Arizona. He worked at Silver Crest residence as a Manager, Maintenance Desk Clerk. Mr. Fimbres was divorced. He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mary Fimbres, and sister Gloria Valenzuela.

Survivors include his sister Lupita Franco, 5 children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be Tuesday, November 30, 2004, 5:30 PM, at Salvation Army, 628 N. 3rd Phoenix, Arizona. Charles "Charley" Edward Ford, 71, passed away November 23, 2004. He was born to Noah and Ruby Ford on October 24, Humphrey, Arkansas.

Charley was a veteran of two foreign wars and retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. He went on to a successful career in real estate for several years. He is remembered as an honest, intelligent, opinionated and loving man. He led a full and active life by enjoying camping, hunting, and hiking with his dog, "CD." Above all, his family was most important to him. He is preceded in death by his only grandson, Keith Westbay whom inspired him to skydive three times at the age of 68.

He was a good provider and proud father of 6 children. His everlasting devotion to his family was unsurpassed. He is survived by his sister, Van Rhodes, and brothers, Danny Ford and Bill Ford. He is also survived by his 6 children, David Ford, Pat Westbay and her husband Chuck, Cindy Rosales, Chris Ford, Mary (Tina) Bostwick and her husband Brian, and Chuckie Ford II; 7 grandchildren, Selina, Alicia, Jessica, Eve, Angela, Bailey, and Samantha; one great grandchild, Sydney; one sister, Van Rhodes; two brothers, Danny Ford and Bill Ford; and his former wife, Vi Burns. Gust Goettl, 93, Sheet Metal Pioneer, Inventor, and Businessman, died on November 24, 9 days his 94th birthday, in Phoenix, Arizona. Gust Goettl was the fifth of 17 children born to Louise Wilging and Philip Goettl. He was born on December 3, 1910, in Austria Hungary, and immigrated with family to Mansfield, Ohio, in 1913.

Gust is survived Dignity by his wife, Magdalene Keipp Goettl. Gust and Mag first met during their school years in a oneroom schoolhouse in Mansfield, Ohio. They married on June 10, 1933 in Ohio, and later headed west and settled in Arizona. The Goettis recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Gust Goettl was a master of improvement.

The critical eye he had developed since creating his childhood inventions was the key to his success in the sheet metal and evaporative cooler industry. Gust did not invent the evaporative cooler, he kept improving it. While coolers had been produced and were already being sold at the time he arrived on the scene, Gust produced new designs, like the "Semi-Circle Cooler" and the "Hex which were widely marketed. In 1939 Gust and his brother Adam founded Goetti Brothers Metal Products Company, which became the nation's largest air conditioning contractor. The two brothers went on to found International Metal Products Company, where they followed their dream of utilizing the assembly line and mass production to manufacture coolers that were less expensive than the making their product available to the masses.

International Metal Products Company became the world's largest producer of evaporative coolers. By the time Gust retired in 1960, he was the president of Metalaire Products Company, the owner of Goettl Industries, Plant Manager and owner of International Metal Products in Phoenix, International Metal Products Sales Company, International Metal Product de Mexico, S.A., Air Conditioning Supply and Continental Manufacturing Company. Gust enjoyed many years of traveling, fishing, hunting, golfing and camping, and he became the 54th person in the state of Arizona to earn the Arizona Wildlife Sportsmen Big 10 award. Gust was an active member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church where he served as the Chairman of Construction overseeing the ground breaking of the new church, and in 1959 he was named Churchman Cum Laude. Of all the community work in which Gust was involved, the Lighthouse Mission was the most rewarding, and in 1967 he received the Outstanding Service award.

Gust was a member of the Phoenix Exchange Club since 1969, and he helped organize fund-raising for charities, and most recently helped support an organization that searches for missing children. In 1996, Gust Goettl was inducted into the Arizona Business Hall of Fame, and honored as both a businessman and as an inventor. Gust was also honored in the Arizona Edition of the American Biographical Encyclopedia as one prominent personality among many Arizonans, and was recognized as contributing to a heritage for future generations. He will be deeply missed and always remembered by his family, colleagues, and friends. Gust Goettl, the last survivor of the original Goettl family, is preceded in death by his daughter Loretta Leoni and grandson, Jeff Odell.

He is survived by his wife, Magdalene, daughters Janet Kelly of Phoenix, Loraine Anderson of Scottsdale, Joyce Angello of Hayfork, Calif; his grandchildren Bill Odell, Greg Odell, Scott Odell, Jim Kelly, Jay Kelly, Eric Leoni, and Paula Leoni-Bacchus and 11 great grand children. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Monday at Green Acres, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 11:00 A.M. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Maryland.

Burial will follow the reception at the church. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Hospice of Arizona for their kindness and respect. Howard Gold, The known universe and beyond suffered a tremendous loss Saturday evening with the passing of an exemplary human. Howard Gold, an amazing father, husband and friend to many lost an epic battie with cancer.

Survived by his beautiful wife Becky, visionary son Dallas, three beloved cats, some wild in-laws and a large community of wonderful and supportive friends, Howard will be missed beyond measure. A celebration honoring his life will be held in January. Annalee Maude Green Gooch passed away peacefully in her apartment at the Village Oaks Center in Mesa, AZ on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2004. Annalee was born to Perry Cyrus and Elizabeth Green in Crane County, Missouri on March 2, 1913. She has been a resident of Arizona for the past 75 years.

Annalee was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has held many church staff and leadership positions over the years that included serving in stake and ward callings in the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women's organizations. She was the wife, companion and widow, for the last 23 years, of Bishop and State Legislator Arlo Orlando Gooch. Annalee was the mother of five sons, grandmother of 25 children and great grandmother of 33 and counting at the time of her passing. Annalee loved her family and treated each one as if they were her special loves. She loved sharing her testimony of Jesus Christ with them.

She had a natural "green thumb" and her home always had flower and vegetable gardens around it. Annalee was preceded in death by her four brothers and three sisters, her husband and one son, William R. Gooch (Laurel). She is survived by four sons Perry Orlando (Margaret), Richard Arlo (Marcy), John Bruce (Mary) and James Lee Gooch. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 30th, starting at at the LDS Mesa East Stake Center, 2228 E.

Patricia A. Haig arrived in Heaven with much singing and celebration on November 25, 2004 at the age of 55. She lived each day as a gift from God, thankful for all the blessings given. She knew and ministered to so many people, always thinking of others first. In "dying to live life, she suffered much and fought hard.

Never at a loss for words, she was the most inspirational and positive person whe loved the Lord with all her heart. She had many treasures stored in Heaven. She will be greatly missed by friends and family including Steve, her husband of 34 years, daughter, Karie and husband Matt Engstler, son, Shane Haig, daughter, Pam and husband Greg Headley, mother, Henrietta Cool, and family, Kathy and Jon Snyder, Mary and Nels Rima, Mike, Nancy, Jason and Mitchell Haig, Aaron and Ashley Kaczmarek. She was the best Nana to Randy and Breanna Engstler, Elizabeth and baby Headley, Jacova and Colton Snyder. Her father Othie Cool preceded her in death.

Hare, 68, of Sun Lakes, AZ passed away on November 24, 2004. Alton was born to Lucille Jones Hare and Dwight Hare in Tait's Gap, Alaba- Dignity ma on May 22, 1936. He was the youngest of three children. His family moved to Ajo, Arizona in 1941 where he lived and attended school until 1952. His family then moved to Bisbee where he attended his last 2 years of high school.

He married Beverly Smith Hare on September 7, 1957. Together they had two children. The family moved to Safford in 1975. Throughout his life he worked many jobs, including telegraph operator for Southern Pacific Railroad, shovel operator and truck driver for Phelps Dodge in both Bisbee and Morenci, AZ. He also was a successful real estate broker and developer.

Alton retired from Phelps Dodge in 1994. He married Nancy Craddock in July of 1987. He greatly enjoyed rodeos, horse races, and in his younger years hunting and fishing. Later in life he and Nan moved from Safford to Sun Lakes. They enjoyed traveling extensively in their 5th wheel.

Spending time with trading were his life. He was well known for the latter and rarely if ever lost money on a deal. Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Lucille Hare, brother Edward Hare, and sister Leona Hare Dumas. He is survived by his wife Nancy Hare, son, Alton David Hare, son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Rene Craddock, daughter and sonin-law, Jacquelyn and Tony Evans, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dave Bayster, and 16 grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Huachuca Oaks Baptist Camp, 9502 S. Hwy 92 Hereford, AZ 85615. Visitation will be Sun. Margaret Huey, 86, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away November 25, 2004. Services were held Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Sunland Mortuary, Dignity 15826 Del Webb Blvd. in Sun City. Sydney Burton Hunter, 82, U.S. Army of Gold Canyon, Arizona, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004.

18, 2004, at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. Joseph was a construction supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. Survivors include his children, Judith (Terry) Hawkenson, Waskish, and Thomas (Bernadine) Hynes, Wausau, along with seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Lynton Jones was born on March 2, 1921 in Akron, Ohio to Lynton and Georgia Jones. Don was the eldest of three brothers. As a boy growing up during the Great Depression, Don worked from an early age to help support the family. It was during this time he learned to outrun the bullies in his neighborhood as a matter of selfpreservation. Don learned to play the clarinet and was in the marching band at Akron High School.

He served in the army medical corps from 1942-1946. He was stationed in England and received a Good Conduct Medal, American THR Service Medal, EAME THR Service Medal and Victory Medal. Don married Irene Parker in 1947 in Phoenix and they raised two sons together. He was a long-time member of Phoenix First Assembly of God church where he taught the young-married's Sunday school class for 17 years and made life-long friends. Don had a 32-year career as a claims adjuster with Salt River Project.

Irene passed away in 1977. Irene's cousin introduced Don to her neighbor, Rosalie, that same year. They were married six months later and enjoyed 27 years of marriage until his death on November 24, 2004. Besides Irene, Don was preceded in death by his brother Jerry. Don is survived by Rosalie, his sons Donald and Charles, five stepchildren, 13 grand children, 12 great grand children and his brother Phil.
