THE SIOUX CITY SUNDAY JOURNAL; JANUARY 11,1931. HELL'S ANGELS IS AT CAPITOL Spectacular Air Romance Features Ben Lyon and J. Hall A spectacular romance of the air, depicts with amazing realism scene's of thrilling battles In the clouds, IS the feature picture being Shown this week until Friday at the Capitol theater. Hell's Angels Is the bf the production. The picture the story of aerial Warfare thoroughly and completely.

Neither time nor money was spared by Howard Hughes, producer-director, In filming the picture. The picture was taken for the silent screen, but when completed sound pictures were the vogue, and so the entire production was returned with sound accompaniment. Three years were required to take picture, and more than $4,000.000 was Spent In Its production. More than 100 pilots and SO airplanes, many of which were of wartime vintage, were used in the picture, Aerial Drama Created Hughes attempted to create an aerial drama that should live because of its realism. There Is grace In the speedy air squadrons flying In formation, grazing mountain tops and disappearing into the clouds Drama marks the clash of those giants of the skies as they meet In combat, each crew sending a jitream of lead into the enemy ships Intensity marks the scoring of a hit, when the victim planes plunge In a flaming stream to earth with the crews dashing to their doom.

The story also la unusual and Interesting. Two brothers, one noble and self sacrificing, the other Interested only In wine, women and song, enlist In tjie royal flying corps. Following bombardment of a munitions plant, the enemy attacks, and the brothers' plane Is brought down and they are captured. James Hall Starred Despite threats of death, the brothers refuse to divulge the allied plans. The noble brother then Is given opportunity to display his character when he prevents his weakening brother from disclosing the plans.

A strong, dramatic climax reveals an agreeable conclusion. James Hall, as the stronger brother, and Ben as the weaker man, give good accounts of themselves In the production. Jean liar- low, a newcomer to the screen, plays the part of Hall's sweetheart. Others In the castlncluder John Darrow, Luclen Prlval, Douglas Ollmore, Jane Winston, Roy Wilson and Evelyn Hall. tana.
