we have decided to accept the old salaries To our minds there are many valid reasons why we should do this all values not alone in this county but throughout the country have been terrifically deflated The farmer is now selling his cotton corn wheat and the entire production of his farm from 50 to 200 per cent less than he formerly received The labor ing man who works ten long hours a day in shop and factory has had his wages mercilessly cut The manu facturer the merchant and the busi ness man have all had to take their loss The cost of living has been greatly reduced and is now at about pre war prices we have taken this position we are confronted with the statement bv those who are in favor of present salaries that this is a pcice of politics However this may be we are perfectly willing to leave it to the taxpayers of Iredell county We will further state that the salaries that we are willing to accept are the ones made and authorized by the vot ers of Iredell county When the sal aries were raised it was claimd by the beneficiaries that it was essential on account of the increase in the cost of living If they were right in their position then it is a self evident pro noistion that they arc wrong now As the cause for the increase has been re moved Tne net saving to the county will be $3200 per year Should the present incumbents be re clccted the raise in salaries will have cost the county $2oG00 have cost had ginal salaries knidly bedell countv as thev think it have If you favor this reduction "0 to the primaries and vote for us Un der no
